SUMMARY:

The SICDC utilizes the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) through OSPI. The cooks must adhere to strict meal patterns sanitation standards and documentation requirements. Key responsibilities include creating seasonal cycled menus preparing meals that meet specific age-group portion sizes ensuring one whole-grain rich item daily keeping detailed production records/recipes and maintaining food safety standards. Schedule will be 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM to ensure all meals are delivered and cleaned up. Hours can be very to evening and weekends as needed to support center activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plans menus for daily servings of two (2) snacks and two (2) meals that meet both USDA and CACFP requirements.
  • Maintains inventory of food and cleaning supplies for program needs. Posts and distributes weekly menus to ensure parent accessibility.
  • Supply necessary equipment and utensils for staff to comply with family style dining. Coordinates and submits food orders delivery storage and inventory of food supplies and equipment.
  • Works with Office Manager to ensure budget is monitored and followed. Responsible for all health and safety procedures in kitchen.
  • Stores food in appropriate containers and storage environment. Labels and dates all food items once opened.
  • Ensure sanitary procedures are followed in classroom serving areas. Attends staff meetings trainings or other center events.
  • Maintains confidentiality about issues concerning other staff children and families. Assumes additional classroom and other duties as assigned.
  • Demonstrate a friendly courteous and professional demeanor at all times.
  • Do a minimum of 2 hours of CACFP continuing education monthly.

QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Must be 21 years of age and High School Degree or GED.
  • Have at least one year of experience with a CACFP program.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Computer proficiency including Word.
  • Meet all DCYF Federal and State program standard and requirements. (i.e. TB test First Aid and Current Food Handlers Card.
  • Pass Criminal History Background Check through DCYF and Pre-employment Drug Screening. Both a condition of employment.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules operating procedures. Ability to write reports and ability to speak effectively before parents and other staff.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate ratio and interpret financial data.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written oral diagram or schedule form.
