Job Summary

Position: Coordinator of Student Supports (1.0 FTE)

Location: Caledonia Elementary

Reports To: School Principal

Certification: Teacher certification (elementary middle years) and/or MI School

Counselor License or NT Endorsement and/or School Social Worker License

Salary/Benefits: Per CEA Contract

Position Summary

Under the direction of the building principal the Coordinator of Student Supports plans and provides appropriate services for students. The Coordinator of Student Supports creates and maintains an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual physical social and emotional development of all students. Monitor and evaluate student and interact with students parents staff and community.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Uses data to develop and inform the schools MTSS systems both social-emotional support and academic support and evaluates the programs impact on the schools instructional goals.
  • Collaborates on the development and management of the comprehensive social-emotional program with the school administrator or instructional leader.
  • Provides professional assistance and support to students or a small group of students during times of transition heightened stress critical change or other situations impeding student success.
  • Uses data to inform and strengthen attendance initiatives.
  • Communicates coordinates and collaborates with stakeholders in developing and implementing student supports.
  • Supports the development and implementation of MTSS by working collaboratively with staff to monitor student progress problem-solve needs and align interventions to improve student outcomes.
  • Assists in monitoring and analyzing data to support building-wide student support systems.
  • Share strategies supporting student achievement with parents teachers other educators and community organizations
  • Works with other educators parents and the community to support student achievement.
  • Participates in the Student Assistance Team to plan and monitor tiered interventions for students identified at risk
  • Takes a leadership role in team meetings.
  • Actively involved in data collection progress monitoring and decisions to adjust programs or systems to best meet the needs of students.
  • Connect students and families to school or community resources for additional assistance and information
  • Intervenes during crisis situations and participates on the school crisis team.
  • Participates in 504 and IEP planning meetings.
  • Conducts staff development where appropriate.
  • Plans and promotes programs that enhance the academic social or emotional growth of the students in which they serve.
  • Facilitates individual small group and large group meetings on topics of student interests and/or needs
  • Maintains a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality with regard to all district-related matters and records
  • Identify recruit and connect local resources to meet schools human service behavioral health and medical health needs.
  • Perform any other job responsibilities deemed appropriate by building or district administrators.

Employment Qualifications

  • EDUCATION: This position requires possession of a Michigan Teaching Certificate or School Counselor License or NT endorsement or School Social Worker License.
  • EXPERIENCE: Preference will be given to those candidates with prior experience and full approval.
  • SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: No supervisory responsibilities.

  • Remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance abuse in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the District.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to sit use hands to finger handle or feel; talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop kneel crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus especially due to concentration on a computer screen and small numbers. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
