Assist surgeon with general oral procedures. Inform patients on pre-op and post-op instructions. Provide diagnostic information through x-rays dental impressions and casts. Monitor patients vital statistics during surgery. Document treatment by charting in patients up procedure area by the type of procedure planned. Pass surgical instrumentation dressing prep and remove sutures and debris intraoperatively. Clean sterile instruments and equipment in accordance with IFU. Room patients and collect medical history. Prepare patients for surgery including preop sedation counseling. Proper handling of instrumentation and equipment pre/post-procedure
Essential Functions:
Setting up of operating area in accordance with the type of procedure being planned. Pass surgical tools surgical dressing preparation and remove suture/debris removal. Clean sterile instruments and equipment according to the IFUs. Attach relevant monitoring equipment in preparation for surgery. (40%)
Prepare patients for procedure. Obtain and record patient vital signs. (5%)
Proper handling of instrumentation and equipment pre/post procedure. (5%)
Monitor and maintain aseptic technique throughout procedures. (5%)
Ensure the patient does not breathe in fluids during procedure. Protect patients lips cheeks and tongue from unnecessary injury. (5%)
Continued monitoring of vital signs and instruction on post-operative care. (5%)
Assist surgeon in the recovery of patients from sedation and anesthesia. (5%)
Record treatment charts. (10%)
Provide diagnostic information through x-rays dental impressions and casts. (10%)
Appointment scheduling and confirmation. (10%)
Education:
High School Diploma or GED Required
Work Experience:
1-3 years Dental or surgical tech experience Required and
Licenses:
BLS-Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) - AHA - American Heart Association or American Red Cross Required and
CDA-Certified Dental Assistant - DANB - Dental Assisting National Board Inc Required or
Surgical Technologist - DORA - Department of Regulatory Agencies Required
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Ability to take direction from an oral surgeon ability to work quickly be organized and detail oriented.
Good manual dexterity and ability to stand for long periods.
Should be reliable and have strong interpersonal communication skills.
Work well in a team environment.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Epic experience preferred.
