Job Summary

Description

Italian Home for Children provides a nurturing and therapeutic environment for children and adolescents with emotional behavioral and neurodevelopmental challenges. Our Neurodevelopmental Unit (NDU) and Community-Based Acute Treatment (CBAT) programs offer evidence-based trauma-informed and developmentally sensitive care for youth with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) intellectual disabilities and co-occurring psychiatric conditions. Our Intensive Treatment Residence (ITR) program offers evidence-based and trauma-informed care for youth who are in Department of Children and Families custody and have a range of mental health diagnoses.

The Behavior Support Specialist will join the clinical team made up of social workers BCBA OT and nursing to support clients in our programs. They will build positive relationships with clients and provide behavioral support to children and adolescents helping them acquire new skills reduce maladaptive behaviors and achieve greater independence and stability.

This position is ideal for a compassionate detail-oriented individual who enjoys working with youth who have trauma histories in an acute or residential behavioral health setting.

Qualifications
  • Assist in implementing individualized behavior intervention plans support skill acquisition plans and reinforcement systems as designed by the BCBA.
  • Contribute to writing sharing and putting into practice behavioral protocols and behavior definitions.
  • Observe behavioral patterns and support consistency across the milieu.
  • Collect and record data on target behaviors and create graphs.
  • Participate in team meetings sharing observations and contributing to treatment planning.
  • Learn about trauma informed behavioral work with opportunities to observe clinical groups.
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Bachelors degree program in psychology Education Applied Behavior Analysis or related field strongly preferred
  • Experience working with children with autism or in a therapeutic setting preferred.
  • Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification preferred
  • Excellent oral communication interpersonal and writing skills
  • Commitment to confidentiality in all matters related to Italian Home for Children business development and fundraising practices
  • Ability to function effectively in a small team environment
  • Demonstrate sensitivity and appreciation for diverse viewpoints and different communication styles in a politically and culturally diverse environment
  • Flexible thinking and willingness to support other people and projects
  • Ability to sit stand bend lift and carry up to 75 lbs.

The hourly wage range for this role is $21-23 per hour USD dependent on experience. This number does not reflect additional compensation-related benefits such as PTO medical and life insurance EAP and the Italian Home for Children 403(b) retirement plan.
