Position Overview
Navitas Healthcare LLC is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in GI Lab / Endoscopy to join a dynamic healthcare team for a 13-week travel assignment. The RN will coordinate and deliver comprehensive patient care across the pre-procedure intra-procedure and post-procedure phases while collaborating with an interdisciplinary care team.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver patient-centered care utilizing the nursing process and interdisciplinary collaboration
- Provide patient and family education throughout the care continuum including discharge planning
- Conduct ongoing patient assessments and document clinical findings accurately
- Administer medications safely including moderate sedation per established guidelines
- Monitor and manage patient pain effectively
- Assist physicians during GI procedures including:
- Colonoscopy (with polypectomy/biopsy)
- Esophageal dilations
- PEG tube placement
- Banding procedures
- Electrocautery procedures (e.g. argon plasma coagulation clipping injections)
- Perform pre- and post-procedure patient communications and follow-ups
- Deliver post-procedure recovery care
- Identify and report signs of abuse or neglect in accordance with legal requirements
- Support care for patients across all age groups
- Utilize electronic medical records and nursing informatics systems efficiently
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and maintain high standards of care
- Collaborate effectively with healthcare team members to ensure optimal patient outcomes
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Massachusetts or compact eligibility preferred)
- Minimum 23 years of recent Endoscopy/GI Lab experience (within the last 5 years)
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification
- Moderate Sedation certification
- Successful completion of:
- Pharmacology exam
- Basic Arrhythmia program or equivalent competency
- Strong clinical communication and organizational skills
- Proficiency in English (written and verbal)
