Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse in Oncology provides skilled nursing care and support to patients undergoing cancer treatment in an outpatient clinic setting. This role involves administering chemotherapy performing patient assessments collaborating with healthcare providers and managing infusion therapies. The nurse is expected to have acute care medical-surgical oncology experience and strong chemotherapy knowledge to ensure safe and effective patient care.

Responsibilities:
  • Administer chemotherapy and other infusion therapies safely and accurately.
  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments and monitor patient responses to treatment.
  • Collaborate with outpatient medical doctors and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care.
  • Provide education and support to patients and families regarding treatment plans and side effect management.
  • Document patient care activities and maintain accurate medical records.
  • Ensure compliance with clinical protocols and safety standards in the outpatient oncology setting.
Required Skills & Certifications:
  • Active Registered Nurse license with compact state recognition.
  • Minimum of 1 year acute care medical-surgical oncology experience.
  • BLS certification required.
  • Strong chemotherapy administration experience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
  • Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) certification preferred.
  • Outpatient oncology experience.
Special Considerations:
  • No weekend or on-call requirements.
  • Previous permanent staff of Swedish facilities are not eligible for traveler roles.
Scheduling:
  • Standard schedule of 5 days per week 8-hour shifts from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.
  • 4-day 9-hour shifts (8:00 AM to 5:30 PM) may be accepted.
