Pepperdine University School of Nursing invites applications forClinical Adjunct Facultyappointments to support its prelicensure and graduate nursing programs. Clinical adjunct faculty play a vital role in preparing future nurses through high-quality supervised clinical and practice-based learning experiences.
Applications are accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis in alignment with clinical placement needs and program requirements each academic term. Appointments vary based on enrollment course offerings and clinical site availability.

Required Qualifications:
- Masters degree inNursing (MSN)or higher (DNP or PhD preferred)
- Current active and unencumberedCalifornia Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Eligibility for approval by the California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) as clinical faculty
- Minimum ofone year of direct patient care experiencewithin the last five years (or as required by BRN) in the specialty area of instruction
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience inclinical teaching or precepting nursing students
- Clinical expertise aligned with course assignment (e.g. medical-surgical psychiatric-mental health pediatrics maternal-child community health)
- Experience withsimulation skills instruction and/or clinical evaluation tools
- Familiarity withCCNE accreditation standardsAACN Essentials (2021) and competency-based education
Clinical Adjunct Faculty Responsibilities:
- Providedirect supervision and instructionto nursing students in clinical settings
- Ensure students meet requiredclinical learning outcomes and competencies
- Facilitate the development ofclinical judgment professional identity and safe patient care practices
- Evaluate student performance using establishedclinical evaluation tools and program standards
- Maintain compliance withBRN regulations clinical agency requirements and university policies
- Communicate regularly with course faculty and program leadership to support student success
- Uphold asupportive structured and professional learning environment
Appointment Commitment and Instructional Continuity:
Clinical Adjunct Faculty appointments require full participation and engagement for the duration of the academic term to ensure continuity of instruction compliance with regulatory standards and a high-quality student learning experience.
- Summer Term:Faculty must be available for and commit to the full13-week appointment period
- Fall and Spring Terms:Faculty must be available for and commit to the full15-week appointment period
Given the structure of clinical education and the requirements set forth by the California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) and program accreditation standards partial-term availability extended absences or modified schedules that disrupt instructional continuity are not permitted.
Faculty are expected to:
- Be present for all assigned clinical days and instructional responsibilities
- Ensure students receive the full complement of required clinical hours and learning experiences
- Coordinate any unforeseen absences in advance with course leadership with appropriate coverage to maintain uninterrupted student instruction
Acceptance of a Clinical Adjunct Faculty appointment signifies a commitment to fulfill all instructional responsibilities across the entire term. Failure to meet these expectations may result in reassignment or withdrawal of the appointment.
BRN Faculty Approval and Compliance:
All Clinical Adjunct Faculty must meet California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) faculty qualifications and obtain approval prior to engaging in clinical instruction. Selected candidates will be required to:
- Submit documentation for BRN faculty approval through theBreEZe
- Provide evidence of education and clinical experience aligned with the assigned teaching area
- Complete all onboarding and compliance requirements within established timelines
Instructional responsibilities may not begin until BRN approval is confirmed. Appointment is contingent upon meeting all regulatory and university requirements.

The Pepperdine University School of Nursing programs are approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) and are pursuing accreditation through the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).

This is an Adjunct Exempt position with multiple openings. As this is a pooled position applications will be reviewed on a rolling as-needed basis.
Expected Pay Range: $2227.50 - $3009.00 per unit
The above pay range reflects what Pepperdine University reasonably expects to pay for this position at time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on relevant factors such as work experience market conditions education/training and skill addition to base pay Pepperdine offers a robust and highly competitivebenefits package.
