Job Summary
Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-orientedAccounts & Administrative Assistant to join our finance team for a hands-on internship opportunity. This college-level position is ideal for students pursuing a degree in Accounting Finance or a related field who want to gain practical experience in bookkeeping financial reporting and day-to-day accounting operations. The intern will work closely with experienced team members receive mentorship and develop foundational skills in a professional accounting environment.
This internship offers valuable exposure to real-world accounting processes including month-end close support financial reporting and accounts payable/receivable tasks while building proficiency with industry-standard tools like QuickBooks and Excel.
Key Responsibilities
The Accounting Intern will support the accounting team with the following duties (training and supervision provided):
- Perform data entry and maintenance in QuickBooks Excel and internal software systems
- Assist with check processing and preparation of daily bank deposits
- Support bank and account reconciliations
- Help organize and file accounting documents (physical and digital)
- Input budget information into QuickBooks
- Prepare and update monthly reports including Profit & Loss statements customer aging reports check registers and budget vs. actual comparisons
- Assist with accounts receivable follow-up (e.g. contacting customers regarding past-due balances)
- Support Accounts Payable processes: invoice entry payment processing and vendor/subcontractor documentation
- Contribute to monthly accounting close procedures and year-end preparation tasks
- Perform general office duties as needed (filing scanning copying and answering phones)
Learning Outcomes
Interns will gain practical experience in full-cycle bookkeeping financial statement preparation and accounting software proficiency skills highly valued in entry-level accounting roles.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing a Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance Business Administration or a related field.
- Strong interest in accounting and a desire to learn professional bookkeeping practices
- Basic familiarity with Microsoft Excel and QuickBooks (or willingness to learn quickly)
- Fast and accurate data entry skills with strong attention to detail
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks
- Professional communication skills (written and verbal)
- Reliable motivated and able to work both independently and as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of introductory Accounting or Financial Accounting coursework
- Microsoft Office certification (Word Excel) is a plus
- Prior office or customer service experience is helpful but not required
