Job Summary

UNION SCHOOL DISTRICT
TEACHER ON SPECIAL ASSIGNMENT (ToSA)
Multi Tiered Systems of Support


The Position:
The MTSS (Multi Tiered Systems of Support) ToSA reports to the Associate Superintendent Learning &Innovation or designee and provides district and site level support in the areas of academic socialemotional and behavior implementation. This includes but is not limited to: providing assistance andleadership in the development of processes and fidelity of implementation of Tier I Tier II and Tier IIIstrategies and interventions leading and supporting professional development around MTSS structuresand strategies analyzing data and training staff to work with data assisting school sites with MTSSimplementation and roll out modeling effective instructional and behavioral strategies for targetpopulations modeling effective English Learner strategies as part of core Tier I instruction supporting
with special projects within MTSS collaborating with staff and Teacher Leaders providing parentoutreach and presentations and related duties as assigned.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties listed below are not inclusive but characteristic of the type and level of work associated withthis classification. Individual positions may perform all or some combination of the duties listed belowas well as other related duties.

  • Supports process development provides staff training and provides supportive leadership to siteswithin the MTSS rollout;
  • Demonstrates a clear understanding and supports the implementation of the English LanguageDevelopment (ELD) standards;
  • Attends professional development to increase understanding within assigned areas;
  • Models social and emotional strategies and demonstrates knowledge of the (CASEL) standards;
  • Stays current with District instructional initiatives and technology;
  • Plans and prioritizes workload requirements;
  • Supports the coordination of Tier II interventions;
  • Creates models and assists teachers in implementing and differentiating instruction;
  • Maintains exclusive confidentiality of all student and staff issues;
  • Performs other tasks and assumes other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:
Required Certification Education and Experience:
Must have a Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework inEducation or a related field Masters degree preferred; a valid California Elementary or SecondaryTeaching Credential; and a valid California drivers license.

Salary & Benefits:
The ToSA is compensated per the Teacher salary schedule; any other benefits and compensation will be asdelineated in the UDEA Contract including stipends.


WORKING CONDITIONS: Duties require punctuality and the ability to multitask. Duties are
performed in an office environment while sitting at a desk. Duties are also performed at program sitesand in the community making oral presentations and attending meetings. Incumbents may be required towork a flexible schedule evening and weekend hours. Incumbents are subject to public contact withexternal agencies and individuals seeking information. Duties require regular driving to program siteswithin the county.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Incumbents regularly stand and sit for long periods of time; walk shortdistances on a regular basis; use hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard or other officeequipment; reach with hands and arms stoop kneel or crouch to file; speak clearly and distinctly toanswer telephones and to provide information; see to read fine print and operate computer; hear andunderstand voice over telephone and in person; and move and transport materials weighing up to 40pounds. Incumbents must be poised professional and report to work five days per week.
