IT Infrastructure Engineer

Job Summary

We are seeking a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to serve as the long-term technical owner of virtualization server storage backup and network infrastructure supporting critical SCADA and engineering systems.

This is a hands-on senior individual contributor role responsible for operational reliability high availability cybersecurity alignment and disaster recovery readiness across VMware and Hyper-V environments. The ideal candidate has experience supportingproductionOT/industrial environments and understands the accountability required for systems that directlyimpactoperational uptime.

This roleparticipatesin on-call rotation supports scheduled plant outage patch windows and serves as a primary escalation point for infrastructure-related incidents.

Key Responsibilities

Infrastructure & Virtualization Ownership

• Own lifecycle management of VMwareESXi/vCenter and Microsoft Hyper-V environments.

• Designmaintain andoptimizeHA clusters (VMware HA/DRS and Hyper-V Failover Clustering).

• Perform hypervisor patching upgrades and lifecycle management.

• Optimizevirtual machine performance and resource allocation.

• Maintain standardized templates and configuration governance.

Backup & Disaster Recovery (Veeam)

• Administer andoptimizeVeeam Backup & Replication.

• Define and maintain RPO/RTO targets for critical systems.

• Perform periodic restore validation and disaster recovery testing.

• Maintain documented recovery procedures and DR runbooks.

• Manage multi-site backup strategiesincluding full and incremental backups.

Networking & Security

• Deployand troubleshoot enterprisenetworksincluding Firewalling routing andswitching/VLAN architecture.

• Support routing fundamentals andfirewallrule governance.

• Maintain secure IT/OT segmentation design.

• Support patch compliance and vulnerability remediation initiatives.

• Participate infirewallreviews and security hardening efforts.

• Familiarity with industrial protocols (Modbus DNP3 OPC-UA) preferred.

Operational Excellence & Incident Response

• Serve asasenior escalation point during infrastructure incidents.

• Lead root cause analysis (RCA) following outages or service degradation.

• Monitor infrastructure performance storage health and system capacity.

• Proactivelyidentifyrisks and implement mitigation strategies.

• Develop andmaintaininfrastructure standards SOPs and documentation.

Availability & Support Expectations

• Participate in on-call rotation.

• Support scheduled maintenance during plant outage windows.

• Support occasional off-hoursdeployments asrequired.

• Ensure minimal operational disruption during maintenance activities.

Required Qualifications

• Must have permanent authorization to work in the United States.

• 7 years of infrastructure engineering experience in production environments.

• Strong hands-on experience with:

• VMwareESXiand vCenter

• Microsoft Hyper-V (Failover Clustering Live Migration)

• Veeam Backup & Replication

• Enterprise networking (Firewallingswitching VLANs routing fundamentals)

• Experience inmanaging high-availability production systems.

• Experience in Depth ofnetwork devicesFirewalls Routers. Switches

• Strong troubleshooting skills acrosscompute storage and network layers.

• Experienceparticipatingin on-call escalation rotations.

• Strong documentation and operational discipline.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting SCADA industrial or regulated environments.

• Familiarity with NERC CIP or similar compliance frameworks.

• Experience with SAN/NAS storage technologies.

• Scripting experience (PowerShell preferred).

• Cloudand Hybrid deployments

• AutomationExperience with Terraform Ansibleor equivalent

• Experience supporting hybrid IT/OT infrastructure.

Compensation And Benefits

This role offers a base salary of $100000 $130000 (DOE).

Expected Travel: 10%
