The Opportunity

We are seeking a linguistically proficient and culturally inspired French Teacher to join a high-achieving Roman Catholic Faith Academy. In this role you will help students unlock the beauty of the French language within a community that values global citizenship and the harmony between faith and cultural understanding.


The Department & Ethos

  • You will join a Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) faculty that is central to the schools mission of reaching out to the world where language learning is seen as a bridge to empathy and shared humanity.

  • The department follows a communicative and rigorous curriculum encouraging students to develop spontaneity in speech while mastering the technical nuances of French grammar and syntax.

  • The academy fosters a strong sense of community where pastoral care is integrated into every interaction and students are encouraged to reach their full potential.

  • While the school is a faith academy we welcome applications from French Teachers of all faiths or none who are supportive of the schools Catholic character and values.


Core Responsibilities

  1. Linguistic Delivery: Teaching French across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (GCSE) fostering a classroom environment where students feel confident to communicate in the target language.

  2. Cultural Immersion: Introducing students to the diverse cultures of the Francophone worldfrom Europe to Africa and North Americaand exploring the ethical and social dimensions of global communities.

  3. Faith Integration: Supporting the academys ethos by participating in the liturgical life of the school and encouraging students to reflect on the importance of communication in building a just society.

  4. Diagnostic Assessment: Using data-driven insights to identify student misconceptions in phonics vocabulary and grammar providing targeted feedback that helps every learner excel.

  5. Enrichment Leadership: Coordinating extracurricular activities such as French film clubs spelling bees or virtual exchange programs with partner schools abroad.


The Successful Candidate We are looking for a practitioner who combines linguistic excellence with a commitment to the holistic development of young people. Requirements include:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree in French or a related discipline.

  • Near-Native Fluency: Exceptional command of the French language with the ability to model accurate pronunciation and sophisticated expression.

  • Respect for Ethos: A willingness to support and contribute to the Catholic life and values of the school.

  • Instructional Clarity: The ability to explain complex grammatical structuresfrom the subjunctive mood to compound tensesin a way that is accessible and engaging.
