## About the Role
The Senior Oracle DBA is a key member of the DevOps Data Services team providing full-lifecycle production assistance across development infrastructure testing and production environments. Serving as a technical subject matter expert you will manage and maintain Oracle database environments ensure development and testing environments remain synchronized and lead performance tuning initiatives. This role requires a professional conversant in DevOps automation who can troubleshoot complex production issues enforce coding standards through peer reviews and provide cross-functional support for alternate database technologies. This position includes participation in an out-of-hours on-call rotation to ensure data integrity and service availability.

## Key Responsibilities
- **Operational Support:** Accountable for the operational support and continuous improvement of the Oracle estate and processes across Development Test (System Load Performance UAT) and Production environments.
- **Automation & Efficiency:** Utilize automation tooling (Code Management and Deployment/Configurations) and certified pipelines to reduce cycle times and improve reliability auditability and traceability.
- **Governance & Standards:** Consistently apply and improve database build standards and best practices; protect production environments through rigorous governance and fit for purpose pre-production designs.
- **Data Integrity:** Provide strong governance for the management and access of live data (Client Data Take Up) and ensure obfuscation technologies/practices are embedded.
- **Deployment Management:** Ensure project and change releases are packaged to high quality repeatable between environments without modification and deployed to target environments within agreed timescales.
- **Continuous Improvement:** Address weak points in process technology and service through a culture of continual improvement; document software and processes to eliminate single points of knowledge.
- **Stakeholder Collaboration:** Work with DevOps and Development teams to remove obstacles and maximize efficacy; provide status reporting and updates to Line Project and Change Managers.

## Requirements
- **Oracle Expertise:** Comprehensive knowledge of database administration (design installation and troubleshooting) of Oracle databases from 9i to current versions on both Linux and Windows operating systems.
- **Database Technologies:** Extensive experience with Database Mirroring Log Shipping Clustering Availability Groups Transactional Replication and ETL.
- **Production Support:** Demonstrable experience supporting large-scale critical production databases and designing robust backup/recovery strategies.
- **Cloud & Automation:** Comprehensive knowledge of working in public cloud environments including experience with automation deployment tools such as Terraform.
- **Performance Tuning:** Advanced skills in database performance optimization transformation and migration.
- **Security:** Ability to develop and implement data security guidelines to protect against loss or misuse while maintaining authorized access.
- **Desirable Skills:** Knowledge of SQL Server database design automated testing of database releases and experience mentoring junior team members.
