Job Title: Ophthalmic Technician Location: New York NY Duration: Contract Schedule: MondayFriday 7:45 AM 4:30 PM (40 hours/week)
Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Ophthalmic Technician to support clinical operations within an eye care setting. This role involves performing diagnostic eye tests assisting physicians during procedures and ensuring efficient patient flow while maintaining high standards of patient care.
Tonometry and tonography (intraocular pressure measurement)
Pharmacological pupil testing and dilation
Patient Care & Coordination
Collect and document patient medical and personal history
Prepare patients for physician evaluation
Manage patient flow and scheduling for tests and procedures
Educate patients and families on diagnostic procedures and treatments
Equipment & Environment Maintenance
Calibrate and maintain ophthalmic instruments such as:
Slit lamps
Keratometers
Lensometers
Ensure exam rooms are clean stocked and ready for use
Procedure Assistance
Assist physicians with clinical and minor surgical procedures
Prepare and sterilize instruments for ophthalmic surgeries
Support laser treatments and operating room cases as needed
Required Skills
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
High attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to multitask and manage workflow efficiently
Education & Requirements
High School Diploma or GED (required)
Ophthalmic Technician Certification (required)
Proficiency in English (spoken and written)
