The Department

Core Responsibilities
Academic Delivery: Teaching Biology across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (GCSE) with the potential to lead A-Level Biology classes for a candidate with the appropriate expertise.
Practical Instruction: Planning and delivering safe engaging laboratory experiments that bring the theory of the Required Practicals to life.
Curriculum Innovation: Developing high-quality resources that cater to a wide range of learning needs ensuring that complex biological conceptssuch as genetic inheritance and homeostatic loopsare accessible to all.
Diagnostic Assessment: Using formative and summative assessment data to track student progress providing targeted feedback that helps learners bridge the gap between their current and potential grades.
STEM Leadership: Contributing to the wider life of the school through science clubs eco-committees or coordinating participation in the Biology Challenge and Olympiads.
The Successful Candidate We are looking for a practitioner who is passionate about the living world and dedicated to the success of young people in Walsall. Requirements include:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a strong honours degree in Biology or a closely related Life Science.
Subject Passion: A deep and infectious enthusiasm for the subject that motivates students to explore Biology beyond the exam specification.
Classroom Management: The ability to create a purposeful disciplined and inclusive learning environment where all students feel challenged and supported.
Safety & Compliance: A thorough understanding of CLEAPSS guidelines and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of laboratory safety.
