Financial Analyst, Commercial FP&A

Job Summary
Job purpose
Reporting to the Manager Commercial FP&A the Financial Analyst will support forecasting budgeting performance management and standardized reporting for the Commercial FP&A pillar. This role is central to FP&As evolution from a reporting-focused function to one that shapes decisions and provides clarity to the business with a particular focus on standardizing and automating the financial reports models and routines that form the backbone of the planning cycle.
The Analyst will spend a meaningful portion of their time rebuilding manual recurring deliverables into efficient repeatable processes: streamlining variance analysis month-end reporting forecast rollups and management reporting packages. This is a high-learning seat for someone early in their career who wants to understand the fundamentals of how a P&L is planned measured and explained while materially reducing the low-value manual work that holds the team back from insight.
Accountabilities and responsibilities
- Build maintain and continuously improve standardized financial reporting variance analysis month-end close packages forecast rollups and management reporting with a bias toward automation and repeatability over manual rework
- Apply advanced Excel skills (complex formulas Power Query pivot models structured references and lookup/array functions) to replace manual processes with scalable auditable tools
- Partner with the Commercial FP&A team to deliver budgets forecasts month-end reporting product line profitability SG&A and inventory analysis ensuring a single trusted version of the truth across deliverables
- Bring a continuous improvement mindset identify inefficient processes challenge how things have always been done and focus on standardization before automation
- Develop a deep understanding of the business drivers behind the numbers how Commercial decisions flow through to revenue margin and working capital and translate that understanding into clearer reporting and analysis
- Support the broader FP&A team on ad-hoc analysis special projects and cross-pillar initiatives as required
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or a related discipline; recent graduate to 12 years of relevant experience
- Actively pursuing (or intending to pursue) a CPA CFA or equivalent finance/accounting designation
- Advanced Excel skills are essential including complex formulas Power Query pivot tables and a working knowledge of how to design reporting tools that scale; exposure to Power BI VBA SQL or similar is a plus
- Genuine passion for understanding the fundamentals how a P&L is built how forecasts come together and why the numbers move the way they do
- Enterprise thinking curiosity about how decisions in Commercial Operations Pricing and Procurement connect even early in your career
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy transparency and accountability
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines in a monthly close and planning cadence
- Working knowledge of accounting fundamentals and financial statement mechanics
- Comfortable operating within clear governance and ownership models with a bias toward a single trusted version of the truth
- Self-motivated able to work independently in a fast-paced and transforming environment
- Strong written and oral communication skills able to explain what the numbers mean not just what they are

Salary Transparency: High Liner Foods compensation offerings are founded in a pay-for-performance philosophy that recognizes individual and team performance. The typical hiring range for this position is from $60K - $71K; the base pay is offered based on a variety of factors including geographical market location and may vary depending on job grading practices job-related knowledge skills experience and internal equity factors. As part of our total rewards offering employees may be eligible to participate in an annual short-term incentive program and long-term incentive program (for Dir) subject to program eligibility requirements.
