We are seeking a mature and operationally-focused Finance & Administration Manager on behalf of our client in the communications/tech industry to lead the financial and administrative engine of a well-established business in Midrand. This is a critical leadership role during a significant ownership transition moving from a 24-year founder-led model to a new executive structure.
The successful candidate will "own" the full finance function while professionalising the non-commercial backbone of the company including HR administration BBBEE compliance facilities and governance.
This is not a theoretical role; it requires a hands-on leader who can balance respect for legacy practices with the implementation of modern scalable systems.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Leadership
- Own the day-to-day finance function ensuring bookkeeping accuracy managing working capital and producing timely monthly management accounts
Budgetary Control
- Lead the annual budgeting process across all departments challenging assumptions and driving corrective actions where overspend occurs.
Cashflow & Funding
- Maintain a rolling 13-week cashflow forecast manage banking relationships and improve collection disciplines to reduce reliance on shareholder funding.
Operational HR & Compliance
- Oversee HR administration (contracts leave payroll inputs) and manage the BBBEE scorecard process and regulatory filings.
Facilities & Administration
- Manage office facilities leases utilities insurance and fleet administration.
Systems Integration
- Improve administrative workflows and ensure the finance system remains the "single source of truth" across the business.
Executive Influence
- Work as a peer to the Heads of Commercial and Operations holding them accountable to financial discipline with tact and respect.
Requirements
- 8 years in SME or medium-sized business finance management.
- Proven experience in trade-based industries (e.g. Engineering Distribution Construction or Project-based firms).
- Experience managing blue-collar workforces and the associated HR/payroll complexities.
- Strong background in budgeting and cashflow control within businesses involving stock fleet or project margins.
- Comfortable working onsite in an office/industrial park environment.
- We are looking for a practical detail-driven professional who thrives in a "bricks and mortar" environment rather than a corporate services office.
- Qualification required: Relevant accounting qualification registered accountant with proven experience.

- High Emotional Intelligence: Ability to communicate effectively with everyone from blue-collar workers to shareholders.
- Resilience & Backbone: Able to challenge senior managers and maintain financial firmness while remaining commercially supportive.
