Job Summary
The Instructional Assistant - Special Education (Behavior Intervention) assists certificated staff by reinforcing instruction to individual or small groups of students with significant aggressive and/or other behavioral difficulties in a classroom setting job site and/or community based program using intensive behavioral management techniques intervention strategies coping skills and problem solving techniques.
This classification also implements plans for instruction monitors student behavior documents activities and progress and performs a variety of other related instructional support duties as assigned.

Requirements / Qualifications
Six months of job-related experience working with children either paid or volunteer.
Note: This position works with individual or small groups of students with significant aggressive and/or other behavioral difficulties using intensive behavioral management techniques intervention strategies coping skills and problem solving describe your experience and training in behavioral intervention techniques in your application.
CPR and First Aid Certification from an accredited organization such as the Red Cross or American Heart Association.Online First Aid certificates are acceptable however CPR certificate must include hands on classroom training.

The competitive basis for this recruitment is established as dual certification. Candidates who meet the minimum qualifications participate in the following examination:Math English and writing test weight 100%.
Candidates who pass the exam are placed on an eligibility list in order of overall exam score. Candidate names will be merged onto an existing list based on overall exam score each time the exam is administered. The eligibility list is used to fill vacancies withing a six month period.
If a candidate has takena multiple choice and/or performance test for this San Dieguito Union High School District job title or similar job title within the past two years candidate may be able to transfer the scores to this recruitment. The exam must be sufficiently similar as determined by the Director Classified Personnel. Prior to the application deadline a request to transfer score(s) should be e-mailed to: .
