Caterer (Food Service Support Staff) Pyle Center

The Wisconsin Union often referred to as the heart and soul of the University of Wisconsin-Madison has enhanced the lives of members and visitors since it was founded in 1907. Since 1928 when the doors to Memorial Union opened the Wisconsin Union has served as the living room of the UW-Madison campus. The Union connects students faculty staff members and visitors through shared cultural social and recreational events and experiences.

Anticipated Schedule

• Flexible schedule sent out weekly
• Request off system allows for the ability to schedule around other commitments as needed

Additional Scheduling Notes

• Hiring for Summer 2026 with ability to continue into the academic year

Minimum Hour Expectation

• During the summer 20-30 hours per week if desired
• During the academic year 4-8 hours or 1-2 shifts per week as able
• Addtional shifts may be available depending on event volume

Unit Hours

• Variable dependent on events so all are encouraged to apply
• Preference will be given to those who are able to work either weekday mornings or early afternoons

Unit Location

• Pyle Center: 702 Langdon St Madison WI 53706

• Retrieving restocking and replenishing food and supplies
• Prepare and present food items for buffets and meals
• Clean and prepare work and storage areas
• Attend to customers food and beverage needs during a catered event
• Set up and take down serving lines tables or portable units
• Clean slice and season ingredients
• Help prepare for the next days production
• Assist permanent food service staff with preparing a variety of hot and cold foods (i.e. salads sandwiches appetizers baked goods pre-dishing meals etc)
  • Please note meat is served in this position but accomodations can be made for those with specific needs or preferences

• Provide excellent customer service at all times.
• Ability to lift 20 pounds and push or pull 100 pound carts.
• Follow all safety procedures and attend required health safety and security trainings

Student Status

To be eligible for the Wisconsin Union positions you must be currently enrolled in a college university or highschool (at least 16). It is not permissible to hire a person as a student hourly employee if they are taking credits merely to be eligible for student hourly employment.
