Imported Wood Products Procurement and Compliance Manager

Job Summary
Duties: Responsible for overseeing the sourcing purchasing and regulatory compliance of imported wood products. Ensures supplier quality manages international relationships and maintains adherence to U.S. import regulations including the Lacey Act. The position involves strategic planning negotiation and collaboration across departments to support the companys operational and financial goals. Maintain and enhance the companys reputation as a leading importer of wood products. Conduct inventory assessments and forecast purchasing needs
present recommendations to management for approval. Coordinate and execute cost-effective international travel to evaluate suppliers ensure product quality and maintain compliance with the Lacey Act. Negotiate initial and ongoing market rates for imported wood products. Supervise overseas grading teams and agents to ensure accurate species identification grading standards production quality and export volumes. Authorize payments for imported wood verifying purchase order accuracy and compliance documentation. Record all travel and supplier interactions in the LumberTrack system. Represent the company at domestic and international trade fairs and industry events. Network internationally to identify market trends and new sourcing opportunities. Support sales staff through customer visits to promote imported wood products. Lead Lacey Act compliance efforts including documentation collection supply chain analysis and issue escalation. Collaborate with third-party verifiers to confirm product legality under the Lacey Act. Coordinate with customs brokers to ensure accurate declarations in accordance with U.S. Customs and APHIS regulations. Continuously improve compliance procedures based on evolving regulations and industry best practices. Work with management and accounting to monitor purchasing rates and manage cash flow. Oversee ocean freight rates and logistics costs to ensure market alignment. Execute domestic spot purchases as needed to support sales operations. 50% of domestic and international travel to visit customers and suppliers including extended multi-country trips.
Requirements: Bachelors degree in Business Marketing Economics or a related field plus 3 years of experience in materials management and operations related to wood products; 3 years of experience with statistical analysis and report writing related to inventory analysis inventory budgeting long-term cash flow management compliance customs and tariffs reporting; 3 years of experience using Microsoft Office including Excel PowerPoint and database management. Knowledge of U.S. Lacey Act and its compliance requirements.
Salary: $90334 to $92500 per year
