About Our Opportunity
Providing Resources and Independence for Youth Development (PRIYD) is a
community-based program focusing on functional life skills and community
participation for children and youth with support needs living in Burnaby New Westminster Richmond and Vancouver. A support for children and youth with developmental disabilities the goals of the program are to increase each persons independence and to support the family. Service is provided both one-to-one and in small groups. Staff work directly with children and youth who may have diagnoses such as Autism Spectrum Disorder Down Syndrome Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder Fragile X syndrome Cerebral Palsy Oppositional Defiance Disorder and/or mental health concerns such as anxiety and depression.

Work Hours: 35 hours per week Tuesday-Saturday with variable start and end times based on client availability. Typically starting around 11:00 am-12:00 pm on weekdays ending around 7:00 pm-8:00 pm. Saturdays 9:00 am-6:00 pm.
Salary: Salary Range $28.81-$31.91 per hour (GS 9 Step 1-4)
Location: Community-based with administrative time spent at 1638 East Broadway Vancouver BC. Possibility of occasional partial days worked from home.

What do you need to succeed
Under the supervision of the Regional Service Coordinators and Managers as a community-based Integration Support Worker you will provide service to families in the following ways:
Provide one-to-one and group support to children and youth with developmental disabilities such as Autism Spectrum Disorder
Formulate goals action plans and strategies together with your clients and their caregivers
Through community-based recreational activities support your clients using coaching modeling and emotional support to develop life skills age and ability-appropriate independence and integration in the community
As a resource advocate role-model and community liaison connect with social workers behaviour consultants educational staff and families as part of an integrated team
Your commitment to meaningful documentation and progress reports will ensure continuity of care for your clients
Education Training Experience
Two years of post-secondary education or training in child & youth care or a related field
Demonstrated experience working with children and youth with developmental disabilities such as Autism Spectrum Disorder
Role Qualifications and Skills include but are not limited to
Ability to teach functional life skills in a community setting
Demonstrated ability to work with children and youth with support needs and their families
Ability to maintain a clients safety in the community
Evening and weekend availability
Standard First Aid is mandatory
Additional Requirements
Successful completion of a Criminal Record Check
Class 5 drivers license and reliable access to a vehicle is an asset
