Job Summary:WesterlyPublic Schoolsseeksa highly effective preschool dual certified special educator/early childhood teacher to join our successful candidate will have the skill set to create a safe learning environment where all students are engaged in learning at their readiness level towards RI Early Learning Standards.
Responsibilities:
- Designs and implements instruction thatdevelopscommunication skills motor skills social emotional skills and academic learning skills.
- Provides small groupinstructionto students to meet their individualized IEP goals.
- Ensurescompliance with all special education regulations.
- Writes and implements goals andobjectivesconsistent withstudentsIndividualized Education Plan (IEP) and providestimelyand regular progress reports on student development.
- Conducts educational evaluations todeterminespecial education eligibility.
- Regularly assesses and collects data as needed to develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Facilitate andparticipatein IEP meetings as a core team member ensuring parents are active participants in the development of goals andobjectivesfor their child.
- Providestimelyand regular progress reports on student development and adjusts instruction based on regular assessments.
- Collaborates as a team member within preschool in supporting other staff members in responding to students needs.
- Supervises paraprofessionals through specific expectations and feedback.
- Establish andmaintainregular positive communication with familiesregardingstudent progress achievements and challenges through multiple channels
- Can convey content in creative and engaging ways that align to standards.
- Scaffolds and differentiates instructionin order forall students to develop their early learning skills.
- Seekstoparticipatein and contribute to a collaborative adult learning community.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Experience:
- Minimum of five (5)yearssuccessful experience in teaching or administration is preferred.
- Experience with integrated preschool instruction preferred.
- Education:
- Bachelors Degree from a recognized and accredited college or university.
- Masters Degree in Special Educationis preferred.
- Certification & Licensing:
- Must meet the current RI Department of Education requirements for certification in Early Childhood Education and Special Education (Pre-K).
