Job Summary
The Senior R&D Manager is responsible for leading the development and application of food technologies across the organization. This role balances hands-on project work with team leadership with a strong focus on developing staff driving key initiatives and supporting overall R&D strategy.
This position plans and oversees R&D activities to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget. The Senior R&D Manager is also expected to be a reliable resource across the business and a key partner to leadership.
Essential Functions
- Lead coach and develop team members
- Oversee R&D projects from concept through completion
- Identify and implement process improvements
- Support and help manage the R&D budget
- Contribute to annual planning and department strategy
- Maintain regular communication with the Director team and cross-functional partners
- Act as a go-to resource for technical and product-related questions
- Take on additional projects or responsibilities as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Food Science Culinary Science Biology Chemistry or a related field required; advanced degree preferred
- 15 years of relevant experience
- Strong leadership and team development experience
- Solid communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with AS400 and Lotus Notes is a plus
Work Environment
- Primarily office-based with time spent in plant or lab settings as needed
- May be exposed to:
- Loud environments
- Strong food-related odors or airborne particles
- Hot cold wet or humid conditions
- Standing or walking on concrete
- Stairs ladders or elevated surfaces
Salary: $130000-$150000K
