POSITION TITLE: K-12 Special Education Teacher

REPORTS TO: Principal

JOB SUMMARY:

Provide academic instruction and social support to students in kindergarten through 12^th grade who qualify for special education with a focus on kindergarten through 5th grade.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate.
• Special Education Endorsement

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop compliant Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) that promote measurable student growth.
• Faithfully implement and monitor IEPs.
• Coordinate services and IEPs with the Intermediate School District.
• Support general education teachers with implementing IEPs.
• Maintain an atmosphere of trust respect interest and enthusiasm within the school.
• Embrace change and innovation and possess the ability to envision and actualize learning beyond the traditional walls of the classroom and school.
• Establish and promote high standards and expectations for all students.
• Establish a professional rapport with students staff colleagues and the greater school community that promotes mutual respect through the display of the highest ethical and professional behavior and standards.
• Communicate regularly and effectively with parents to create cooperative relationships that support students in the school and at home.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor.

SALARY AND BENEFITS:

Compensation as outlined in Master Agreement between Northport Public School Board of Education and Northport Education Association. Current starting salary between $47000 and $77000 based on experience and degree but the Master Agreement is under negotiation.
