Job Summary:

The Felsen Poleg-Polsky and Scholl labs in the Department of Physiology & Biophysics are seeking to hire a Research Services Professional (RSP) across any rank of entry intermediate or senior professional. This position would join a team focused on understanding the functions of neurons and circuits in the retina and the early visual system. This position offers collaboration across multiple laboratories combining ex-vivo and in-vivo electrophysiology and two-photon imaging cellular and circuit modeling and rodent visual addition to understanding normal function we are interested in degenerative neurological conditions leading to alterations in visual processing.

Key Responsibilities:

Whole-cell patch-clamp electrophysiology

Two-photon calcium imaging of cellular populations and synaptic inputs

Electroretinogram measurements

Equipment maintenance calibration and troubleshooting

Software development to support experiments

Biophysical modeling and construction of machine learning-based models

Statistical analysis of single-cell and population-level recordings

Collaborate with and support Principal Investigators (PI) and other stakeholders with laboratory and research functions

Work Location:

Onsite this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora CO.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in neuroscience biophysics bioengineering psychobiology or related field

Intermediate-level: One (1) year professional level research experience

Senior-level: Two (2) years professional level research experience

A combination of education and related technical/military/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for a bachelors degree on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications:

Masters degree in neuroscience biophysics psychobiology or related field

Intermediate-level: Two (2) years of experience in an experimental or wet laboratory

Senior-level: Three (3) years of experience in an experimental or wet laboratory

Experience with Electrophysiology and/or Imaging.

Experience with chronic stereotaxic surgeries and AAV injection of GCaMP in the brain.

Experience with awake behaving recording of neural signals.

Experience with analysis of neural data.

Experience in Histological techniques.

Experience in Neurological Modeling.

Experience with Python MatLab Igor Pro or similar coding languages.

Experience with TensorFlow PyTorch or similar frameworks.

Experience with computational neuroscience including programming GENESIS NEURON and MCell.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

Intermediate-level: Proficient knowledge of basic laboratory techniques including safety procedures and techniques

Senior-level: Advanced knowledge of basic laboratory techniques including safety procedures and techniques

Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.

Strong multitasking and prioritization skills.

Ability to be flexible and effectively adapt to a varied and shifting workload.

Ability to communicate effectively both in writing and orally

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution

Outstanding customer service skills

Knowledge of basic human anatomy physiology medical terminology

Ability to interpret and master complex research protocol information

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as:

Entry-level: $46274 $51000

Intermediate-level: $50357 - $55000

Senior-level: $54440 - $59000

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the Universitys good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation depending on the level.
