Senior VMware Engineer MSP

Job Summary

Senior-level VMware engineer responsible for supporting optimizing and maintaining virtualized infrastructure across multiple managed service provider (MSP) client environments. This role acts as a Tier 3 escalation point and is focused on platform stability availability recoverability and operational excellence in SLA-driven environments.
Requirements
- Administer support and optimize VMware vSphere environments ( ESXi vCenter) across multiple client environments
- Act as Tier 3 escalation for VMware-related incidents outages and performance issues
- Perform lifecycle management including patching upgrades capacity planning and hardware refresh support
- Troubleshoot complex compute storage and network-related VMware issues
- Support and maintain high availability DRS vMotion and resource allocation strategies
- Implement and support backup recovery and disaster recovery solutions (e.g. Veeam or equivalent)
- Participate in incident response activities under defined SLAs and change management processes
- Assist with onboarding new clients and transitioning environments into MSP support
- Produce and maintain technical documentation runbooks and standard operating procedures
MSP-Focused Expectations
- Support multiple customer environments with varying architectures and maturity levels
- Balance reactive escalations with planned engineering work
- Collaborate closely with Service Desk NOC and other engineering teams
- Communicate clearly and professionally with internal stakeholders and clients
- Identify recurring issues and propose long-term remediation or standardization improvements
Required Experience & Skills
- 7 years of experience in infrastructure engineering roles
- 5 years of hands-on VMware experience in production environments
- Prior experience working in an MSP or multi-client support model
- Strong troubleshooting skills across virtualization storage and networking layers
- Experience working with SLAs incident response and change management processes
- Strong documentation and communication skills
PreferredQualifications
- VMware certification (VCP or higher)
- Experience with VMware NSX or hybrid cloud integrations
- Backup platforms such as Veeam Zerto or similar
- PowerCLI or scripting/automation experience
- Experience supporting regulated or high-availability environments
