Job Summary

Set-up and Location: WFH/Onsite

The Estimators role it to assist the Estimating department to deliver construction estimates for a variety of construction projects from small fit out projects to large scale commercial buildings. The Estimator will work under the supervision of Senior Estimators to ensure projects are appropriately priced for winning jobs and ensuring the ongoing growth and profitability of the business
  • Review documents and create document registers for projects
  • Assist estimators to prepare and rate project estimates submissions and generate bill of quantities in Cubit software.
  • Assist estimators with trade packaging for subcontractor pricing
  • Liaise with subcontractors and assist with confirmation of quotes / pricing
  • Assist with administration and documentation for the Estimating team
  • Oversee document control and estimating electronic filing of projects in preparation for handover to Construction PM
  • Assist with minute taking of internal department client consultant and subcontractor meetings

KEY RESULT AREAS ACCOUNTABILITIES AND MEASUREABLES

In performing the following duties the incumbent is required to comply with quality assurance policies and procedures and other relevant legislative requirements applicable to the Institution.

Estimation
  • Assist to prepare documentation required for the Estimating Team to bid
  • Assist to prepare estimates for contract adjustments
  • Preparation of Project Estimates Submissions & Bill of Quantities
  • Preparation of documentation and creation of document registers
  • Assist Senior Estimator to prepare and rate bill of quantities (within Cubit software)
  • Prepare project assumptions inclusions and exclusions from Cubit file
  • Assist with Management of tender process
  • Issue relevant documentation and other bid information to subcontractors (trade package)
  • Follow up of subcontractors for pricing/quotes
  • Accurately record and document pricing information
Project Initiation scope and standards
  • Project Brief work with the Estimating team and client to complete project brief
  • Complete project brief including full scope and finished schedule
  • Create construction budget
  • Keep minutes of client consultant and subcontractor meetings
  • Oversee document control of project in preparation for handover to Construction PM
Communication Relationships
  • Maintain clear communication
  • Work collaboratively
  • Attend all meetings
Reporting and Administration
  • Regular and ongoing reporting to Estimator and Pre-Construction Manager
  • Assist with document control of project in preparation for handover to Construction PM
  • Other adhoc duties as required from time to time.

  • The performance on the key responsibilities and outcomes for this role;
  • Service levels and level of satisfaction expressed by key stakeholders;
  • Their ability to develop and maintain relations with the Clients inhouse team and external bodies.

Requirements

What You Bring:
Were looking for someone who:
  • Relevant qualification or skills in building and construction industry
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the building process
  • Some experience in commercial construction estimating
  • Ability to prioritise responsibilities
  • Ability to read interpret documentation and construction drawings
  • Ambition to succeed in the construction industry
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel Word Outlook Cubit and Project and/or an ability to learn industry specific software
  • Ability to work autonomously and within a team environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
Essential:
  • Tertiary qualification in Building and Construction or relevant skills.

Desirable:
  • Skills in Estimation software such as Cubit (preferred) or CostX

Required Skills:

Requirements/Skills Needed: Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering Construction Management or a related field. 4 years of experience in estimation project costing or a similar role. Proficiency in AroFlo CRM and Groundplan software. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel Outlook and Word. Strong understanding of Australian construction practices and regulatory standards. Speak English well. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail in reviewing plans and documentation. Strong IT skills with the ability to learn and adapt to various tools and systems.
