Job Summary

TITLE: Traditional Club Director
REPORTS TO: Unit Director
CLASSIFIED: Full Time Exempt
LOCATION:Vermillion


MISSION: To inspire and enable all young people especially those who need us most to realize their full potential as productive responsible and caring citizens.

JOB SUMMARY: The Traditional Club Director is responsible for the oversight and management of daily operations and programming for youth in grades 3rd12th at the Boys & Girls Club of the Northern Plains Vermillion location. This includes both elementary and teen programming ensuring a safe engaging and inclusive environment that promotes academic success good character and citizenship and healthy lifestyles. This role provides leadership to staff maintains high-quality programs builds strong relationships with families and community partners and ensures compliance with all organizational policies procedures and grant requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Oversee the delivery of high-quality age-appropriate programming aligned with the 5 Key Elements of Positive Youth Development and Club priority outcomes: Academic Success Good Character & Leadership Healthy Lifestyles and Life & Workforce Readiness.
  • Provide leadership for the Academic Success/Tutor Program serving youth in grades 3rd12th including daily operations staff supervision school partnerships and compliance with grant requirements.
  • Monitor program quality and member outcomes using data and feedback to strengthen services and respond to youth needs.
  • Track manage and report on program effectiveness using tools such as Boys & Girls Clubs of Americas Impact Assessment NYOI survey and other required reporting measures.
  • Ensure grant-funded programs are implemented with fidelity and that all deliverables documentation and timelines are met.
  • Lead supervise coach and evaluate staff volunteers and interns supporting both Elementary and Teen programs.
  • Foster a strong team culture through ongoing training feedback professional development and clear accountability.
  • Manage staff schedules and daily coverage including snow days no-school days and other unexpected schedule changes.
  • Ensure Club policies procedures and behavioral expectations are implemented consistently across programs.
  • Partner with Human Resources on staff hiring onboarding performance management and disciplinary processes.
  • Attend lead and support required meetings trainings and Club-wide initiatives.
  • Build positive supportive relationships with youth and serve as a consistent mentor and role model.
  • Support youth development through behavior management strategies Youth Success Plans and proactive member support.
  • Maintain a safe inclusive and welcoming environment that supports the physical and emotional well-being of all youth.
  • Respond to significant behavior incidents member concerns and family situations with professionalism and care.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for parents and caregivers providing regular communication through orientations calls emails and day-to-day interactions.
  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with schools and community organizations to enhance support for youth and families.
  • Support recruitment enrollment and marketing efforts in partnership with the Membership Coordinator including newsletters and promotional materials.
  • Manage program budgets responsibly including supplies purchases and equipment.
  • Maintain safety standards staffing ratios and operational readiness across all assigned program areas.
  • Collaborate across Club sites and departments to promote consistency strengthen services and support organizational goals.
  • Complete reports documentation and assigned projects accurately and on time.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EMPLOYMENT QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelors degree in education youth development social work or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 35 years of experience working with youth ages 618 in a leadership or program management role.
  • Prior supervisory or management experience is required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with program or data management software.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Proven ability to think critically solve problems efficiently make sound decisions quickly and adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Demonstrated success in leading mentoring and developing positive relationships with youth families staff and community partners.
  • Positive attitude professional demeanor and commitment to the mission values and youth development philosophy of the Boys & Girls Club.
  • Must be available to work MondayFriday between 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM with occasional evening and weekend hours required for events and programming.
  • Ability to understand implement and model youth behavior management practices consistent with Club values of fun supportive relationships recognition opportunity and safety.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to observe interact and communicate effectively with youth staff and families.
  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment (computer copier phone etc.).
  • This position is considered safety-sensitive.
