Discover Impactful Work:
The Buyer II is responsible for supporting an assigned portfolio of suppliers for our Hillsboro site. We build ion and electron beam assemblies used in laboratory and science applications worldwide and dual-beam wafer cutting systems that are integral to the semiconductor industry.

As a Buyer II at Thermo Fisher Scientific you will play a key role in ensuring reliable and cost-effective supply chain operations while supporting our mission of enabling customers to make the world healthier cleaner and safer. You will manage day-to-day procurement activities support supplier relationships and collaborate across functions to ensure material availability and inventory optimization.

Working closely with cross-functional teams you will analyze requirements place and manage purchase orders and support on-time delivery of materials critical to our manufacturing operations. You will apply analytical skills to identify opportunities for process improvements and cost efficiencies while maintaining high quality standards. This position offers the opportunity to build expertise and contribute to operational excellence in a dynamic environment.

Keys to Success:

Education & Experience

  • Bachelors degree in supply chain management or related field preferred.
  • 2 years of experience working in a Purchasing or Supply Chain environment required.
  • Experience working with suppliers and managing purchase orders.
  • Experience supporting supply chain operations in a manufacturing environment preferred.

Knowledge Skills Abilities

  • Familiarity with continuous improvement concepts.
  • Experience with procurement or business management systems (e.g. SBM or similar).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Working knowledge of inventory purchasing and supplier coordination activities.
  • Experience working with ERP systems (knowledge of QAD a plus but not required).
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to adapt priorities as business needs evolve.
  • Team-oriented with a focus on achieving results.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with English proficiency.
  • Experience with Microsoft Outlook Excel and Word.
  • Microsoft Access and Microsoft BI experience is a plus.
