Were working with a well-established family-run business based in Longtown who are looking to add a Purchase Ledger Clerkto their finance team. This is a full-time permanent position offering a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with numbers building relationships and keeping things organised in a busy environment.

The role is Monday to Friday 8.30am to 5pm providing a consistent and structured working pattern.

Key Responsibilities
Processing high volumes of supplier invoices ensuring accuracy and correct coding
Matching invoices to purchase orders and delivery notes
Resolving invoice discrepancies and supplier queries in a timely manner
Preparing and processing supplier payment runs
Reconciling supplier statements and investigating any differences
Maintaining up-to-date and accurate purchase ledger records
Setting up new supplier accounts and maintaining existing details
Assisting with month-end processes including accruals and reporting
Liaising with internal departments to ensure purchase orders and invoices align
Supporting audits by providing relevant documentation when required

About You
Previous experience in a purchase ledger or accounts payable role
Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy
Good organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks
Confident communicator both written and verbal
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
A proactive approach to problem-solving

Desirable Skills
Experience using accounting software such as Sage Xero or similar
Understanding of basic accounting principles
AAT qualification or working towards it
