DESCRIPTION:
Join our collaborative team at Thermo Fisher Scientific as a Sr Site Specialist within Unity Lab this role youll contribute by providing essential laboratory support services that enable our customers to make the world healthier cleaner and safer. Youll manage inventory systems coordinate laboratory operations and ensure exceptional service delivery at customer sites. Working directly with researchers and scientists youll maintain crucial lab support functions including materials management equipment maintenance and safety compliance. What will you do

  • Use inventory/order management electronic systems to perform the following activities: on-site program replenishments and disbursements receiving put-away stock rotation cycle counts order entry and expediting customer service call resolution product returns and backorder processing
  • Perform laboratory services such as order delivery glassware processing biological waste processing chemical inventory receipt/reconciliation and media preparation
  • Analyzes/maintains/reconciles various reports to ensure contractual requirements are met
  • Proactively connect with the supervisor any customer concerns and/or potential problems and effectively address customer concerns within established resolution timeframes.
  • Be involved with safety programs such as hazard identification inspections and incident reporting/investigation as required.
  • Engage in process improvement activities
  • May perform other responsibilities as assigned by management

Education

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience

2 years of related experience within a laboratory setting is preferred. Experience working in customer service is also a plus.

Preferred Fields of Study: Biology Chemistry or related field

Knowledge Skills Abilities

  • Able to read write and speak English fluently
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and desire to deliver excellent customer service. This includes maintaining a professional appearance and demeanor in all interactions and upholding Thermo Fisher Scientifics values including confidentiality.
  • Possesses a strong desire to serve the customer and the interpersonal skills to collaborate with various levels of personnel at the customer site.
  • Independently operates handheld scanners to enter data in various systems as needed; as well as analytical skills to reconcile reports. Experience with inventory management systems and handheld scanners
  • Demonstrates computer proficiency and possesses intermediate skills in Microsoft Office suite of software. Uses organizational skills to multi-task and meet due dates as needed. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office suite especially Excel
  • Knowledge of GMP/GLP environments and laboratory safety protocols preferred

Physical Requirements / Work Environment

  • Works primarily at customer sites which may require independent work. Work areas may include spaces where chemical-based allergens are in use (such as penicillin tetracycline etc)
  • Depending on the area of the building personal protective equipment may be worn including lab coats coveralls hoods facemasks hairnets safety gloves steel-toe shoes (required for all colleagues) bump hats and/or safety glasses.
  • Regularly required to lift 30 - 40lbs and up to 50lbs occasionally.
  • Regularly use equipment including pushcarts pallet jacks mobile cylinders forklifts etc. to push/pull up to 100lbs
  • Regularly required to stand walk and conduct manual material handling (twisting bending reaching lifting etc.) for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to work in environments with varied temperatures (cold rooms outside etc.)
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.
  • Experience with laboratory documentation and compliance procedures
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with chemical handling and waste management protocols preferred
  • Flexibility to work overtime as needed
  • Valid drivers license may be required for some positions
  • IATA/DOT certification a plus
  • Bilingual skills valued

Compensation and Benefits

The hourly pay range estimated for this position based in California is $26.00$28.60.
