Job Summary:
The FPV Drone UAS & MQT Instructor provides full-time onsite instruction and technical expertise to NSWG-1 and NSWG-2 in support of support of unmanned systems (UxS) training requirements across multiple platforms. This role is responsible for the development implementation and delivery of FPV training programs as well as conducting weekly currency flights and providing hands-on technical support including troubleshooting and system repairs.
The instructor will coordinate airspace training ranges and facilities; ensure accurate flight documentation and compliance with applicable standards; and support the advancement of NSW UAS capabilities through the integration of emerging technologies and contributions to procurement efforts. This position operates within a strict safety and security environment and requires routine reporting to the Government.
Job Functions:
Develop implement and deliver FPV training curriculum in support of NSWG-1 and NSWG-2 courses of instruction (COIs)
Plan coordinate and execute training events including scheduling of facilities airspace and ranges
Conduct weekly currency flights and provide technical support including system maintenance troubleshooting and repairs
Coordinate airspace ranges and facilities; assist with material inputs for FPV procurement and sustainment efforts
Establish and assess proficiency standards including both simulated and live-flight training as well as integrated strike capabilities
Integrate current UAS hardware and software while maintaining awareness of evolving tactics and technologies
Maintain accurate flight logs and training documentation in accordance with program requirements
Prepare and submit monthly status reports to the Contracting Officers Representative (COR)
Required Qualifications:
Active Secret Security Clearance
Ability to meet UAS flight physical requirements
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word Excel PowerPoint Outlook)
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Experience Requirements:
Minimum of 5 years of experience operating troubleshooting and repairing FPV systems across multiple UAS platforms in contested environments
Minimum of 5 years of experience with Betaflight and FPV simulation software
Experience developing and delivering training programs for both foundational and advanced UAS operations in combat or contested environments
Hands-on experience with PCBA soldering and electrical system integration
Experience working within cross-functional DoD teams
Experience evaluating and integrating emerging FPV sUAS and counter-UAS technologies
Experience integrating payloads and communication systems into UAS platforms
Familiarity with counter-UAS tactics techniques and procedures (TTPs)
Recent hands-on experience with kinetic FPV systems and employment techniques
Experience operating and instructing across multiple UxS platforms (UAV sUAS FPV systems)
Certifications:
FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certification
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job the employee routinely is required to learn and apply new information and/or skills. Must be able to interpret data information and documents.
Occasional Travel may be required. 20%
Occasionally will need to lift/and or move up to 45lbs
Moderate environment temperature and noise level.
Regularly works around moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather heat and humidity.
