Job Summary:
We are looking for an experienced and passionate Food Services Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate for this position has previous experience with cleaning and food service. The ideal candidate enjoys the convenience of a commercial kitchen environment. The Food & Facilities Services Assistant will support the Food Services Manager with all aspects of food service at LSC including food orders food storage sanitary practices meal prep Child Nutrition Program (CNP) compliance and kitchen clean up. The Food/Facilities Services Assistant is responsible for assisting in cleaning the kitchen.
This position requires effective communication and organizational skills the ability to work in a time-sensitive environment and strong math skills to keep costs within acceptable standards. Reporting to the Managing Director of Operations the Food & Facilities Services Assistant position is an entry-level position funded to work 4-6 hours per day Monday through Friday and may work a split shift. Minimum Qualifications:
- Possess a High School DiplomaorGED
- Mus be 18 years of age.
- Possess a valid South Carolina drivers license and an excellent driving record.
- Prior experience in one or more of the following food service activities: direct responsibility for preparing nutritious meals scheduling meals proper food handling and storage food inventory food ordering and working with the Child Food Program

Other Requirements (Post-Hire)
- Able to pass a criminal background check.
- Must be able to prove the right to work in the USA by providing appropriate documents to complete the Federal I-9 form.
- Must possess or have the ability to possess and keep current a Food Handlers Certificate issued by the South Carolina health department.
Desired Qualifications:
- Ability to read write speak and understand English.
- Two (2) years of experience working with the Child Nutrition Program or School Lunch Program.
Work Environment:
- Indoor environment
- Exposure to heat exceeding 85 degrees
- Exposure to hazardous cleaning chemicals
- Exposure to sharp knives and slicers.
- Exposure to very hot foods equipment and metal objects used in cooking and baking
Physical Requirements:

- Clerical duties (computer typing copying etc.)
Role Specific Duties and Responsibilities
Food Services Responsibilities
- Demonstrates sanitary practices in relation to the preparation of food and personal hygiene.
- Assists in meals preparation and afternoon snacks for children
- Assists in maintaining kitchen to meet sanitation requirements; cleans dishes stove carts and work surfaces after meal preparation.
- Maintains a daily record of the number of snacks served.
- Prepares quantity of food to meet CNP Standards
- Works independently and cooperatively with Food Services Manager.
- Assist the Food Services Manager in calculating and ordering food from vendors to prepare planned meals using a centralized ordering system. Limits shopping for approved items and errands to center workday and/or before or after preparation and clean-up times
Recordkeeping Monitoring and Reporting
- Assist in maintaining daily Inventory of food and food service supplies
- Assist in completing/submitting kitchen/disposable and maintenance supplies order forms to Procurement when needed
- Assist Food Services Manager in maintaining inventory of kitchen appliances and equipment.
- Assist in maintaining a daily record of the number of meals served the Child Nutrition Program menu production worksheets cycle menus and recipes.
- Receives food orders signs bills and submits paperwork and bills to Accounting on the established schedule when needed.
Supervision:
- Identify self-growth development goals and strategies for achievement with support and input from the supervisor.
- Commit and participate regularly scheduledmeetings with the Managing Director of Operations to further professional growth by seeking feedback reflecting on and assessing own practice and taking advantage of opportunities to improve skills and knowledge.
Compensation
- Salary range: The salary is commensurate with relevant experience and qualifications and paid in accordance with the approved salary bands ($12-16per hour)
- This role is also eligible for a performance bonus based on individual and organizational performance and goal attainment.
