What We Do
WIN House provides individuals and their children fleeing violence crisis response and intervention safe temporary accommodation and support for basic needs. Clients are offered trauma-informed client-centered programming and support access to resources information and referrals to community support. WIN House is working towards operating within a low-barrier model of care.
What You Will Do
Under the guidance of the HR Advisor the Human Resources Administrator will gain hands-on experience in various HR functions and contribute to the overall success of WIN House. This role will be responsible to assist with and coordinate the following key areas:
- Support in maintaining and updating HR records and databases both electronically and paper based.
- Collaborate with HR team members on the creation maintenance and organization of templates reporting presentations and other documentation.
- Assist with the recruitment process including job postings resume screening reference checks and interview coordination if needed.
- Support the onboarding process by preparing new hire documentation and assisting in orientation sessions as required.
- Bring forward any HR best practices and trends to contribute fresh ideas to the team.
- Participates in other projects and duties as assigned.
Who You Are
- Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program in Human Resources Business Administration or a related field.
- Strong interest in HR and a desire to pursue a career in this field.
- Experience in recruitment and selection occupational health and safety WCB disability management and HR systems an asset.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- High level of integrity confidentiality and professionalism
- Detail-oriented and highly organized.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Self-motivated and eager to learn.
The Details
Standard hours of work are 8:30 A.M to 3:45 P.M. from Monday to Thursday and from 8:30 A.M. to 2:30 P.M. on Fridays. Win House offers a pet-friendly team-oriented working environment. As a Living Wage Employer we are committed to fair pay practices that reflect the value of our employees work. The rate of pay for this term position is $20/hour.
Prerequisites
The successful candidate will be required to submit a Criminal Record Check and must be willing to sign an Oath of Confidentiality.
As per the Canada Summer Job Grant Program to be eligible youth must:
- Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period
- Be a Canadian citizen permanent resident or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment and
- Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
