About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Project Accountant to join our Advisory Services finance team in Sydney. Reporting directly to the Finance Director Advisory Services this role plays a key part in supporting the Project & Development Services (PDS) finance function.
You will provide financial insight commercial support and accurate reporting across a portfolio of projects working closely with Project Managers and senior stakeholders. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong project accounting experience who enjoys working in a collaborative fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Update and maintain Work in Progress (WIP) reporting based on Finance Control Sheets from Project Managers
- Prepare monthly client billings revenue and expense accruals including supporting documentation
- Assist with Percentage of Completion (PoC) calculations ensuring accuracy and compliance
- Maintain and reconcile the general ledger in line with accounting policies
- Support month-end activities including accruals margin analysis and cash flow reporting
- Assist with internal and external audits by providing required documentation and insights
- Provide financial guidance and training to Project Managers on budgets cost tracking and processes
- Identify and drive process improvements across finance operations
- Provide ad hoc support to the Finance Lead and broader finance team
About You
- CA or CPA qualified (or currently working towards)
- Bachelors degree in Commerce Finance or Accounting
- 3 years experience in project accounting with strong exposure to Percentage of Completion (PoC) methodology
- Solid understanding of IFRS 15 and its application in project-based environments
- Broad accounting experience (ideally 5 years) with strong technical capability
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- High proficiency in Microsoft Excel Word Outlook and PowerPoint
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines while maintaining high-quality output
