Job Summary
Position Summary
The Recovery Support Specialist (RSS) provides peer-based recovery support services to individuals who are seeking or actively engaged in recovery from substance use and co-occurring disorders. Drawing upon lived experience the RSS supports individuals in navigating systems of care building recovery capital and connecting to internal and external resources.
This role is integrated across the organization and may involve supporting individuals at various points of access and engagement. Services are delivered onsite at 303 Jackson Hill within the community and through partner agencies.
Key Responsibilities
Service Delivery
Deliver recovery support services across agency programs and service areas based on individual needs
Facilitate and/or co-facilitate recovery-oriented groups that support peer connection skill-building and sustained engagement
Provide a welcoming supportive and recovery-oriented environment for individuals seeking services
Promote engagement retention and successful linkage to appropriate services and resources
Conduct follow-up outreach to support continuity of care and ongoing engagement
Community & Partner Engagement
Provide recovery support services to individuals connected through partner agencies
Represent The Council on Recovery at community events outreach activities and partner sites
Assist in strengthening referral relationships and maintaining positive community partnerships
Documentation & Compliance
Complete timely accurate and compliant documentation in accordance with organizational policies and funding requirements
Maintain appropriate professional boundaries and adhere to ethical standards for peer support services
Participate in required trainings supervision sessions and team meetings
Work Environment & Schedule
Work may occur at 303 Jackson Hill partner locations and community-based settings
Schedule may include evenings or weekends based on program and client needs
Qualifications
Certification as a Recovery Support Peer Specialist (RSPS)
Lived experience in recovery from substance use and/or co-occurring disorders
Strong interpersonal communication and engagement skills
Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and across multiple settings
Basic computer skills with the ability to complete electronic documentation
Preferred
Experience working in behavioral health community-based services or peer support roles
Familiarity with local treatment providers recovery resources and systems of care
Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
