Job Summary
We are seeking a commercially astute Chief Commercial Officer to drive revenue growth optimize route profitability and strengthen contractual frameworks within a dynamic logistics environment. The ideal candidate will bring strong operational and commercial expertise particularly within the Beira Corridor coupled with a deep understanding of transport economics and contract management.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial Strategy & Revenue Growth
- Develop and execute the companys commercial strategy aligned to overall business objectives
- Identify and unlock new revenue streams across regional logistics routes with a focus on the Beira Corridor
- Build and maintain strategic client relationships to drive long-term business growth
Route Profitability & Cost Management
- Oversee route costing models ensuring accurate pricing and margin optimization
- Analyse and monitor the cost of running trucks (fuel maintenance tolls driver costs etc.) to improve efficiencies
- Drive initiatives to enhance fleet utilization and reduce operational costs
Contract Management & Risk Mitigation
- Lead the negotiation structuring and management of commercial contracts
- Ensure all contracts are commercially sound enforceable and aligned with company risk appetite
- Provide strategic input and support in defending contractual positions when required
Reporting & Performance Management
- Develop and present regular commercial and financial performance reports to the executive team and board
- Track key performance indicators (KPIs) including route profitability cost per kilometre and revenue per client
- Use data-driven insights to inform strategic decision-making
Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement
- Lead and develop the commercial team to deliver high performance
- Collaborate closely with operations finance and compliance teams to ensure alignment
- Engage with key stakeholders including clients regulators and regional partners
Key Requirements
- Bachelors Degree in Business Logistics Supply Chain Finance or a related field (Masters degree advantageous)
- Proven experience in a senior commercial role within the logistics or transport sector
- Strong hands-on experience working within the Beira Corridor is essential
- In-depth understanding of route costing transport economics and fleet cost structures
- Solid experience in contract negotiation management and dispute resolution
- Demonstrated ability to defend contractual positions and manage commercial risk
- Strong analytical reporting and financial modelling skills
- Excellent leadership communication and stakeholder management capabilities
