Job Summary
Job Title: Travel Mental Health Therapy Aide (MHT)
Location: Syracuse New York
Duration: 13 Weeks
Shift: Day Shift 3x12 Hours (7:00 AM 7:00 PM)
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Mental Health Therapy Aide to support a Children/Adolescent Psychiatric Unit. This role involves providing both direct and indirect patient care in an acute behavioral health setting ensuring patient safety and supporting therapeutic interventions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and indirect care to pediatric and adolescent psychiatric patients
- Monitor and record vital signs intake/output and patient behaviors
- Assist with patient admissions and orientation to unit routines
- Support patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) and hygiene needs
- Develop therapeutic relationships and engage patients in activities
- Assist in crisis intervention and maintain a safe environment
- Perform safety checks throughout the shift
- Collect specimens and assist with physical assessments as needed
- Transport patients within the facility
- Document patient information using electronic medical records (EMR)
- Communicate patient updates and concerns to nursing staff promptly
Schedule & Work Details:
- 3x12-hour day shifts (7:00 AM 7:00 PM)
- Every other weekend required
- Holiday coverage required
Requirements:
- Minimum 1 year of mental health or psychiatric experience (2 years preferred)
- Pediatric experience preferred
- Prior inpatient experience preferred
- Current CPR certification
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Experience with EMR systems required
