Job Description
Chief Development Officer (CDO)Position Summary
The Chief Development Officer (CDO) is a senior leadership role responsible for driving revenue growth strengthening positive brand awareness and advancing the mission of the YWCA of Lubbock. This position leads all fundraising grant development donor relations marketing communications and development-related events. The CDO plays a key role in telling the YWCA storyinternally and externallyby highlighting the organizations impact within the Lubbock community.
The CDO works collaboratively with the CEO Board of Directors staff volunteers sponsors and community partners to ensure sustainable financial growth and heightened community engagement.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Fundraising & Revenue Growth
- Develop and execute a comprehensive development strategy to achieve annual and long-term revenue goals.
- Identify cultivate solicit and steward individual donors corporate sponsors foundations and community partners.
- Expand and manage donor pipelines including major gifts and recurring donors.
- Track analyze and report fundraising performance and donor trends.
Grant Writing & Application Management- Oversee efforts to research identify and pursue new grant opportunities aligned with YWCA programming and mission.
- Assist in writing submitting and managing all grant proposals and applications.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with grant funders and foundations.
Donor Relations & Stewardship
- Oversee donor stewardship strategies including acknowledgments reporting and engagement activities.
- Maintain donor databases and ensure accurate tracking of gifts communications and relationships.
- Collaborate with leadership and board members on donor engagement and cultivation opportunities.
Marketing Communications & Brand Awareness
- Provide strategic oversight and leadership to the Marketing Director ensuring all marketing and communications efforts align with the YWCA of Lubbocks mission development goals and organizational strategy.
- Oversee marketing and communications initiatives to elevate the YWCA of Lubbocks visibility credibility and community impact.
- Ensure consistent and mission-aligned brand messaging across all platforms including website social media email campaigns print materials and public relations through collaboration and guidance of the marketing team.
- Guide the development of compelling storytelling including success stories impact reports and key messaging that effectively highlights YWCA programs outcomes and community influence.
- Serve as a spokesperson for the organization as needed.
Events & Community Engagement
- Plan oversee and execute internal and external YWCA events that support fundraising and brand awareness including:
- Women of Excellence
- Father Daughter Dance
- Cocktails & Couture
- Manage event budgets sponsorships timelines vendors and volunteer coordination.
- Ensure events reflect the mission and values of the YWCA and provide meaningful engagement for attendees and sponsors.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Serve as a key member of the organizations leadership team contributing to strategic planning and organizational growth.
- Collaborate with program staff to align development efforts with program impact.
- Engage and support the Board of Directors and committees related to development and marketing.
- Mentor and manage development-related staff and volunteers as applicable.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree required; degree in nonprofit management communications marketing business or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 57 years of experience in nonprofit development fundraising or advancement with increasing leadership responsibility.
- Proven success in grant writing donor cultivation and event-based fundraising.

Work Environment
This role operates in a professional office environment with regular interaction across multiple departments and facilities. Occasional evening or weekend work may be required to support organizational needs.
