Duties and Responsibilities:

The Student Research Assistant will assist with synthesis of quinone methide precursors for the reactivation of organophosphorus-inhibited and resurrection of organophosphorus-aged acetylcholinesterase and butyrylcholinesterase. The candidate will be involved in the chemical synthesis analytical characterization and the biochemical evaluation of novel drug-like therapeutics for the development of new medical countermeasures against organophosphorus poisoning.

Required Qualifications: High school degree and pursuing a degree in chemistry or biochemistry

Responsibilities will be moderate and less routine and will require responsibility and good judgement. May coordinate activities for other student employees. Requires providing excellent customer service strong organizational skills and the ability to work in a professional environment. Requires previous experience and knowledge or skill in student assistant role. Represent the department and the university with the highest degree of integrity applying OSU mission and shared values.
