Subject to formal establishment a vacancy may arise for a Sergeant (Engineering Ground Technician (Mech/Elec or AM&R TG5 (Any)) to serve as SNCO AM&R Apprenticeship Assessor at MOD LYNEHAM on Full Time Reserve Service (Limited Commitment) Terms and Conditions of Service (TCoS) with an initial proposed start date of 28 September 2026 (or earlier/later subject to candidate status and formal establishment).
The SNCO AM&R (formerly Workshops) Apprenticeship Assessor is responsible to the 4SofTT Apprenticeship Centre Manager for AM&R apprenticeship matters within the 4SofTT apprenticeship general terms this post is responsible for assessing the Gen Tech Advanced Manufacture and Repair (AM&R) apprenticeship aspects of trainees undertaking their apprenticeship in conjunction with Ph2 training and onward on the job trg at MOBs The post holder will be responsible to the 4SofTT Apprenticeship Centre Manager for the performance of their duties which will include the following:
- Deliver studentcentred training in accordance with JSP822 by preparing and maintaining serviceable training areas and resources producing lesson plans and supporting materials ensuring delivery aligns with authorised ISpecs/LSpecs and reporting discrepancies through the chain of command and conducting Additional or Extra Trade Training (ATT/ETT) as required under the TQM
- Complete all sections of the Apprenticeship Evidence Pack generate bespoke Costing Templates iaw Accreditation Manual RAF Apprenticeship Manual within 4 weeks of course start date.
- Highlighting any potential improvements through the chain of command for inclusion in the App Centre Continuous Improvement (CI) Log iaw AP3379 Leaflet 1280.
- Undertake a minimum of 5 hours Continual Professional Development (CPD) per annum to address developmental goals iaw JSP822 Part 1 Chap 4.1 Para 34. Any relevant personal or organised CPD completed is to be recorded and maintained on Quality Form QF155.
- Remain current in and personally arrange for Defence Trainer Monitoring Process to be undertaken iaw TQM Section 4 Part 2 Leaflet 6.
- Induction of apprentices onto their chosen programme at RAF Cosford iaw RAF Apprenticeship Manual
- Support Apprentices Line Managers to develop apprentices ready for EPA iaw the Standards assessment strategy for EPA. Conducted on MOBs
- Coach and mentor apprentices in evidence required to be successful at EPA iaw the Standards assessment strategy for EPA. Conducted on MOBs
- Review visits to apprentices place of work at RAF Stations iaw RAF Apprenticeship Manual
- Assessment of apprentices work (Portfolios) iaw Accreditation Manual RAF Apprenticeship Manual Awarding Organisations Requirements. At MOD Lyneham and MOBs
- Internal Quality Assurance of apprentices work iaw Accreditation Manual RAF Apprenticeship Manual Awarding Organisations Requirements. At MOD Lyneham and MOBs
The post holder may be required to receive training related to their specialisation at MOD Lyneham civilian training agencies and at MOB training establishments for the equipment their apprenticeship learners are employed on.
