Position Overview
A healthcare facility is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse House Supervisor to oversee nursing operations during off-shifts including evenings nights weekends and holidays. This leadership role involves providing clinical guidance supporting staff coordinating patient flow and ensuring smooth facility operations across multiple units in a skilled nursing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Leadership & Supervision
Supervise nursing care across all facility units
Act as a clinical expert and resource for nursing staff
Facilitate patient flow during off-shifts
Provide coaching mentoring and performance support
Patient Care & Facility Oversight
Oversee care within a skilled nursing facility environment
Support admissions transfers and post-procedure care
Monitor patient safety and respond to changes in condition
Ensure accurate documentation of patient events and outcomes
Emergency & Crisis Management
Lead emergency response and code management
Implement de-escalation and behavior management strategies
Manage high-risk or assaultive patient situations
Support internal and external disaster preparedness efforts
Regulatory & Compliance
Ensure adherence to healthcare regulations and standards (e.g. DPH TJC OSHA HIPAA)
Participate in incident reporting and root cause analysis
Monitor risk management and sentinel events
Ensure compliance with legal and professional nursing practices
Staffing & Operational Management
Oversee staffing scheduling and shift coordination
Support hiring onboarding and staff development
Apply labor laws and HR policies (e.g. FMLA compliance)
Monitor productivity standards and staffing needs
Quality Improvement
Participate in performance improvement initiatives
Maintain continuous survey readiness
Utilize quality improvement tools and methodologies
Support escalation and issue resolution processes
Requirements
Active New York Registered Nurse (RN) License
Minimum 2 years of House Supervisor experience (LTC/LTAC/STAC settings accepted)
Prior charge nurse experience required
Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) preferably Epic
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
Strong leadership communication and emergency management skills
