Macon R-1 Elementary School isseeking a compassionate and organizedElementary School Nursefor the 2026-2027 school year to support the health and well-being of our students. The school nurse provides direct care promotes health education and ensures a safe school environment for all children.
RESPONSIBILITY:
The school nurse will assist district administrators in providing each student the fullest opportunity to receive a quality education by minimizing absences due to illness providing nursing care during the school day and creating a climate of health and well-being in school.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Licensed to practice in the State of Missouri as a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse
CPR/AED and First Aid Certification required
Displays a caring and calm demeanor
Displays effective interpersonal skills and organizational skills
Ability to work independently
Experience in pediatric school or community health nursing preferred
Strong communication organization and interpersonal skills
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Provide first aid emergency care and routine health services to students and staff.
Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders and district policy.
Monitor and manage chronic health conditions (e.g. asthma diabetes allergies).
Maintain accurate student health records and comply with state reporting requirements.
Conduct health screenings (vision hearing etc.).
Communicate with parents/guardians regarding student health concerns.
Collaborate with teachers administrators and community health providers.
Promote health education and wellness initiatives within the school
Participates as part of the health professional team in staff meetings evaluation of studentswith special health care needs and the student assistance teams as requested.
Collaborates with community resources to meet the needs of children.
Assumes other duties as assigned.
Salary Benefits and Terms of Employment:
Salary and work year to be established by the Superintendent.
