JOB TITLE: SENIOR LEGAL ASSOCIATE
REPORTS TO: MANAGING PARTNER/ SENIOR PARTNER
DIRECT REPORT: ASSOCIATES
EMPLOYMENT TYPE: FULL-TIME
JOB PURPOSE:
The jobholder will be responsible for a diverse range of commercial and litigation matters providing high level advisory research and representation services to ensure that clients are adequately informed of legal risks compliant with applicable laws and strategically positioned in resolving disputes and commercial transactions.
RESPONSIBILITY
- Manage and oversee a portfolio of commercial and litigation cases to ensure timely resolution and the achievement of favourable legal outcomes for clients.
- Conduct a comprehensive legal analysis and research to develop the best legal strategies and provide well-informed advisory services to clients.
- Draft review and negotiate a variety of commercial contracts including but not limited to sales agreements service agreements and partnership agreements to protect clients’ legal and commercial interests.
- Prepare legal documents such as pleadings motions briefs and discovery requests to support effective litigation strategy and ensure strong representation of clients in all legal proceedings.
- Represent clients effectively in court proceedings and arbitrations to advocate for their interests and secure favourable resolutions to disputes.
- Collaborate actively with other attorneys (internal and external) and legal professionals/organisations to develop and implement effective legal strategies that address the complex legal issues of clients.
- Advise clients on legal risks and compliance matters related to their business operations to ensure adherence to applicable laws and regulatory requirements.
- Mentor and supervise junior associates to support their professional development while maintaining high standards of legal work within the firm.
- Monitor and stay up-to-date on relevant laws regulations and industry developments to provide accurate and timely legal guidance to clients as well as in-house team.
- Conduct in-depth legal due diligence on corporate and commercial transactions to identify legal risks and provide clear practical advice to support informed business decisions.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
- Must be a Ghana Bar Qualified Lawyer and of good standing.
- A Minimum of Six (6) Years’ Post Call Experience Preferably in Commercial and Litigation Matters in a reputable Law Firm.
- Must have the Ability to Establish and Maintain Positive Business Relationships.
- Must be able to Work with Little or No Supervision.
- Must have the Ability to Lead a Team of Junior Colleagues.
- Excellent Influencing and Negotiation Skills.
- Must be a Team Player with exceptional communication & interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in legal research databases and software.
- Excellent research writing and analytical skills.
