POSITION:Grade 6 Science Teacher
The Gibbs School in Arlington MAis seeking a dynamic and student-centered Grade 6 Science Teacher to join our team.
Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging standards-aligned science instruction using inquiry-based and phenomenon-driven approaches
- Implement units aligned to the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS)
- Facilitate hands-on investigations and student sensemaking through modeling discussion and analysis
- Use formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and inform instruction
- Differentiate instruction to support diverse learners
- Maintain a positive inclusive classroom environment
- Collaborate with colleagues to support curriculum alignment and student success
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Science Science Education or related field
- Appropriate state licensure (Middle School Science / General Science 58)
Preferred:
- Experience with NGSS and inquiry-based instruction
- Experience working with diverse learners including students with IEPs and multilingual learners
Candidates for teaching positions must be appropriately licensed for the position. Candidates must also be collaborative professionals who will work with generaland special educators throughout the School and District. Must love working with children and be willing to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students in the addition Arlington expects teachers to work diligently and collaboratively to implement the Districts approved curriculum.
Salary and Benefits are consistent with theCollective Bargaining Agreement between the Arlington School Committee and the Arlington Education Association.

Arlington has a well-established new teacher induction program with mentoring throughout the school year. The first official work day in the 2026-2027 school year will be August 31 2026. However new staff are required to attend several days of orientation and training during the last two weeks of August.
