Job Summary

This position will support CMU instructors and CMU Online Learning Engineering team members to collaboratively develop high-quality CMU Online courses.

Core Responsibilities include:

  • Developing online instructional assets that align with teaching goals and apply research-based learning principles. This work will range from developing smaller-scale prototypes to fully online courses; production will require experience with online course-authoring technologies.
  • Development and design of instructional videos and visuals that leverage multimedia for learning best practices.
  • Providing 1:1 teaching consultation on: (1) selection of technologies appropriately aligned with teaching and learning needs and (2) strategies for effectively implementing technology to enhance learning in online and blended courses.
  • Developing resources and supporting departmental programs aimed at educating instructors about relevant technology options best practices for their uses to enhance learning and strategies for effectively integrating them into courses.
  • Staying abreast of emerging technology developments potential pedagogical applications and associated educational research.

You should demonstrate:

  • strong oral and written communication skills
  • sensitivity to teaching and learning needs at a research university

Qualifications:

  • Masters or Ph.D. in learning engineering design instructional design or related area
  • 2 years of experience implementing fully online courses blended courses and/or instructional components/assets (an online portfolio demonstrating related work/past projects)
  • Experience promoting the effective use of educational technology
  • A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered

  • Fixed-term: This is a fixed term position with an expected duration of three years

CMU will notsponsor or take over the sponsorship of an employment visa for this Mellon is not a qualifying employer for the STEM OPT benefit: only the 12-month OPT may be used to work at Carnegie Mellon.
