Director Information Systems (Hospital IT Leadership)

Position Overview
Athena Health Care is seeking a forward-thinking and strategic Director of Information Systems to lead all hospital IT functions. This executive role is responsible for overseeing infrastructure enterprise applications cybersecurity and data governance to ensure secure efficient and reliable technology operations that support both clinical and business objectives.
The ideal candidate is a collaborative leader with deep healthcare IT experience a strong focus on compliance and security and a proven ability to drive innovation and operational excellence.
Develop and execute a comprehensive IT strategy aligned with organizational goals and future growth
Lead digital transformation initiatives to modernize systems and improve operational efficiency
Utilize data and performance metrics to evaluate and demonstrate IT effectiveness
Technology Operations & Delivery
Oversee all IT functions including infrastructure applications and systems integration
Lead the implementation of new systems upgrades and conversions within defined timelines and budgets
Ensure high availability reliability and scalability of hospital IT systems
Cybersecurity & Compliance
Serve as the HIPAA Security Officer ensuring full compliance with regulatory standards
Oversee data security access controls risk assessments and incident response
Maintain and enhance disaster recovery and business continuity plans
Leadership & Team Development
Build mentor and lead a high-performing IT team focused on service excellence
Promote a culture of accountability innovation and continuous improvement
Align IT staff performance with organizational priorities and service expectations
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with clinical financial and operational leaders to support hospital initiatives
Act as a trusted advisor on technology solutions that improve patient care and business outcomes
Foster a collaborative technology-driven culture across the organization
QualificationsEducation:
Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Systems Business Administration or a related field (required)
Experience:
Minimum 5 years of progressive IT leadership experience in a hospital setting (strongly preferred)
At least 2 years of healthcare operations or administration experience
Minimum 2 years of experience in facility or systems management
Proven experience in:
System implementations and conversions
Network infrastructure management
Cybersecurity and regulatory compliance (HIPAA)
Core Competencies:
Strong strategic planning and execution skills
Demonstrated success in team leadership and staff development
Experience working in cross-functional matrixed healthcare environments
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Certifications (Required):
Los Angeles County Fire Card (within 30 days of hire)
American Red Cross (ARC) Certification (within 30 days of hire)
