ABOUT THE ROLE
A leading financial services organisation is seeking a Financial Manager FP&A to join its dynamic finance team. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering accurate financial reporting driving budgeting and forecasting processes and providing strategic financial insights to support business decision-making.This role requires a strong combination of technical accounting expertise financial planning capability and stakeholder engagement skills within a regulated financial services environment.
KEY PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
To assist in managing the financial planning and analysis function by ensuring accurate financial reporting effective budgeting and forecasting and compliance with applicable financial regulations and reporting standards.The role will also involve analysing financial data interpreting trends and providing insights that support strategic and operational decision-making.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Management Control & Budgeting
- Develop and manage annual budgets and financial forecasts
- Ensure effective daily cash monitoring and financial control
- Review quarterly and annual financial returns for regulatory compliance
- Support capital forecasting and financial planning processes
Financial Reporting & Insights
- Prepare monthly quarterly and annual management reports
- Compile financial reporting packs for management committees
- Analyse financial results and provide variance explanations
- Identify trends risks and opportunities from financial data
Financial Governance & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with IFRS regulatory frameworks and internal policies
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of financial regulations and industry standards
- Review financial processes to ensure accuracy and compliance
Data Analysis & Decision Support
- Interpret financial data to provide actionable business insights
- Identify anomalies and investigate variances
- Support business decision-making through financial analysis
Process Improvement & Systems
- Identify opportunities for improving financial processes and systems
- Support implementation of financial systems enhancements
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within finance
Stakeholder Management
- Engage with internal stakeholders up to executive level
- Present financial results to management committees
- Collaborate with business units to support financial planning needs
Leadership & Team Management
- Manage and develop junior finance staff
- Set performance objectives and monitor delivery
- Provide coaching and guidance to ensure high-quality outputs

TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIRED
- Strong knowledge of IFRS and financial reporting standards
- Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills
- Experience with financial systems (e.g. SAP CaseWare or similar)
- Strong understanding of budgeting and forecasting processes
- Knowledge of financial services or insurance environment (advantage)
- Strong analytical and numerical capability
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- CA(SA)/BCOM/CIMA
- Completed articles (SAICA or equivalent)
- 1-3 years post-qualification experience in finance
- Experience in life insurance
- Exposure to financial reporting budgeting and management accounting
