Tallaght University Hospital (TUH) is a model 4 voluntary academic teaching hospital partnered with Trinity College and situated in south west Dublin. With a staff of over 4000 people from 63 different countries it provides both acute and tertiary care to an increasing population of circa 800000 people and is a provider of local regional and national specialties. It is also a National Urology Centre the second largest provider of dialysis services in the country Pelvic and Acetabulum National Centre and a designated Trauma Unit.
The Hospital is part of the newly established HSE Dublin & Midlands Region which serves a population of over 1.2 million across seven counties and operates under the governance of an independent Board of Directors who give their time on a voluntary basis. TUH is also supported by the Adelaide Health Foundation the Meath Foundation and Tallaght University Hospital Foundation.

The Deputy Business Intelligence Manager will support the development of the Hospitals Business Intelligence function within ICT ensuring the delivery of high quality analytics services. The role will contribute to aligning Business Intelligence with the Hospitals strategic objectives and will involve close collaboration with key stakeholders to ensure data driven decision making across the organisation.
The post holder will demonstrate strong leadership and management capability to ensure the Business Intelligence service is effective sustainable and fit for purpose. This includes leveraging appropriate technologies and supporting the development of a skilled analytical team. The role is responsible for ensuring the provision of high quality reliable data to enable accurate timely and impactful reporting supporting the Hospitals ambition to operate as a data driven organisation.
The Deputy Business Intelligence Manager will also support national and hospital group initiatives including shared services and cross organisational projects. The role requires close engagement with internal and external partners as well as contributing to broader technology developments across the Hospital.

overview of role:
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Support the day to day management of the Business Intelligence team providing clear and professional leadership
- Assist in the development and implementation of the Business Intelligence Strategy to support clinicians and staff in delivering healthcare services
- Develop reports/dashboards utilising Microsoft SQL technologies including Power BI SSIS and SSRS
- Support internal operational reporting performance management and external reporting requirements
- Manage and prioritise the workload of the Business Intelligence team ensuring deadlines for data collection analysis and reporting are met
- Contribute to the development and enhancement of the data warehouse and business intelligence platforms
- Support the publication of statistical outputs and web-based content presenting complex data in an accessible format for non-specialists
- Assist in developing and implementing policies procedures and guidelines to ensure consistency and quality in data capture and analysis
- Determine and apply appropriate methodologies for analysing current and historical data
- Support the development of departmental key performance indicators
- Enhance electronic data exchange with National Regional and External partners and service providers to improve patient services
- Oversee first and second level business intelligence support
- Work with system vendors to manage develop and enhance business intelligence capabilities
- Provide advice on new information and communication technology services and innovations maintaining awareness of emerging technologies
- Manage deliver and monitor the implementation of new processes software and technologies
- Ensure value for money and appropriate service levels are achieved
- Support continuous improvement in service delivery
General accountability:
- Commitment to continuous professional development including completion of relevant internal training programmes available through our Centre for Learning & Development Prospectus.
Leadership and staff management:
- Completion of relevant training and availing of supports in the Leadership Academy including coaching mentoring and leadership development as applicable.
Qualifications & Experience required
Must have:
- A relevant third level qualification in Information and Communications Technology
- 5 years relevant experience
- Minimum of 2 years Supervisory / Management experience
- Experience in the design and delivery of large scale enterprise Business Intelligence solutions
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to identify opportunities generate ideas and apply strategic thinking with a medium to long term perspective
- Demonstrated awareness of current and emerging technologies with the ability to leverage technology to enhance business and service delivery
Desirable
- Understanding of healthcare data flows data management and analysis
- A qualification or relevant experience in project management methodologies such as PRINCE2 MSP Lean or Six Sigma
Reward & Recognition
- Remuneration is in accordance with the Department of Health Consolidated Salary Scales 0655
- The appointment is permanent wholetime and pensionable
- The annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year. The leave year runs from 1st April to the 31st of March each year
- Normal working hours are 35 worked over 5 days. Your contracted hours of work are liable to change between the hours of 8 am to 8 pm over 7 days to meet the requirements for extended day services in accordance with the terms of the Framework Agreement
