Senior Surface Land Coordinator
Job Summary
Reporting to the Director Land Strategy & Planning the Senior Surface Land Coordinator plays a key role in supporting the companys operations by managing and coordinating a wide range of surface land activities. This position requires strong knowledge of Freehold and Alberta Crown land acquisition requirements regulatory requirements stakeholder relations and well developed communication skills. The successful candidate will work closely with the internal asset teams and external stakeholders including landowners and industry partners.This role is well suited for a collaborative organized individual who thrives in a fast paced environment.
Responsibility Area Surface Land Coordination
Coordinate acquisitions of surface land rights including well sites pipelines wind turbines and solar projects across the lifecycle process (incl. reclamation)
Prepare required documentation for the acquisition of surface rights including right-of-ways surface leases temporary working space agreements damage settlements agreement amendments cultivation leases and third party crossings
Prepare execute and file all land title registrations to reflect correct information and protect ATCOs assets
Participate in and provide project updates to asset teams for projects
Review audit track and process third party access requests
Process rentals and third party invoices in coordination with accounting
Prepare required supporting land administration documentation including crossing line lists acquisition reports landowner line lists public consultation reporting and project notifications
Maintain all documents related to leases monthly obligations lease rentals renewals assignments transfers and associated stakeholder commitments
Accountable for the administration of 3rd party agreements such as crossing agreements proximity agreements ground disturbance agreements road use and surface lease agreements
Coordinate all aspects of surface rights acquisition and dispositions including land package preparation/audit with expert knowledge of Directive 56
Prepare mapping to support internal projects
Coordinate third party land agents in the delivery of projects independently including delivery of major projects as assigned by the Director
Land record management ensure mineral surface and contract agreements are recorded accurately and documented in the land database CS Land and report statistics to the Director Land Strategy & Planning
Own and communicate a land tracker spreadsheet and ensure no project schedules are impacted by not having required land inputs on time
Prepare various applications to the County for road upgrades road access and bylaw changes
Complete rent reviews for surface leases establish rates and negotiate with landowners as required. Negotiate temporary workspace and damage settlements as required
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
A minimum of 15 years as a Surface Land Coordinator/Analyst in the Energy Industry
Post-secondary education in a land-related discipline is preferred
A continuous learner with a desire to grow additional skills within the Surace Land function
An openness to innovate existing processes via digital automation
Exceptional reporting and organizational skills
Strong computer skills including the MS Suite of Products AER OneStop ACO CS Explorer PowerPoint Geoscout Accumap and Abadata
Excellent work ethic and ability to excel in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
