Job Summary

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Provides professional expertise in Early Childhood Education and Development assisting in site monitoring consultation training policy and procedures development and training agency collaboration and tracking of Early Childhood Services to coordinate the effective implementation and compliance of Head Start and First Things First Performance Standards and Childcare Licensure regulations. Serve as a resource for teachers teachers assistants and the Preschool Program Director in meeting the educational needs of preschool children.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred. Minimum of an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education required. At least 5 years experience in a preschool classroom developing and implementing programs for children and families. A minimum of two years experience monitoring and evaluating preschool programs evidence of fingerprint clearance and obtain a fingerprint clearance card issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety within twelve weeks of employment negative TB clearance within last 12 months and current immunizations. Provide evidence of an initial health exam within the last 12 months and re-examination every 3 years. CPR/First Aid Certification and Maricopa County Environmental Services Food Handlers Card required. All certifications must be maintained in a current to kneel stoop bend and sit on floor to attend to childrens needs. Ability to lift up to fifty pounds when required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist the Director Preschool Programs and the Support Facilitator Preschool Programs and Student Services in providing appropriate child development early childhood education information and referrals for staff parents and collaborating agencies.
  • Assist in collaboration with the Director Preschool Programs the Support Facilitator Preschool Programs Student Services and the Coordinator of Family and Community Partnerships in developing transition plans monitoring of services and other duties as needed.
  • Assist in supporting Alhambra Preschool Program teachers concerning issues of classroom environments teaching skills curriculum support and transitioning children and their families. This includes but is not limited to the telephone email written reports recordkeeping and tracking of data.
  • Assist in the development and distribution of written and web-based materials for children parents employees community partners within the areas of: developmentally appropriate practices child and family literacy assessment and individualization of curriculum and learning environments.
  • Mentor teachers to support the implementation of the Success for All curriculum for 3 4 and 5 year-old children. Support will include coordinating and distributing supplemental materials for each weeks lesson plans.
  • Participate in weekly team planning of curriculum with the teaching team and other staff supporting the program philosophy and encouraging and using appropriate input from parents.
  • Mentor teachers to monitor and maintain all necessary documentation to demonstrate compliance with Head Start and First Things First Performance Standards related to individualization and lesson planning.
  • Mentor teachers to implement and monitor federal state and local health and safety procedures and provide written reports of deficiencies to Preschool Program Director.
  • Mentor teachers to assist with and when necessary conduct home visits and parent/teacher conferences as required by Head Start and First Things First Performance Standards.
  • Train and monitor staff volunteers and parents.
  • Coordinate the activities of support staff and service providers to support classroomneeds.
  • Oversee the developmental assessment of each child and the documentation ofindividualized goals on the weekly lesson plans.
  • Model the development and maintenance of respectful relationships with all families reviewing their needs and progress.
  • Mentor teachers to work cooperatively with support staff in the provision of direct services and the development of goals for children with disabilities.
  • Mentor teachers to oversee maintenance and inventory of classroom supplies materials and equipment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
